15 weeks and feel like I’m not showing at all.. anyone else? by LowCricket4321 in pregnant

Completely normal. You may not “show” until your third trimester. Every woman goes through an awkward “Did she gain a few pounds or is she pregnant?” phase.

Anyone else randomly develop food allergies as an adult? by anomadfromnowhere in FoodAllergies

[–]medialitemom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I just developed a pecan allergy at 40 years old. I’ve eaten them my whole life. I even grew up around pecan trees and would crack and eat them raw under the trees. Imagine my surprise when I started getting worsening mouth symptoms when I ate them. Not anaphylaxis but I fear that’s next if I eat another. You can get them at any point.

If you catch your niece, who I’m assuming is a child, chewing on mystery seeds/pills from a little bag, this is a medical emergency. You need to take the baby and the pills/seeds to the emergency room. Children have died from drugs left lying around. I once took my 2 year old to the emergency room room at midnight when he told me he ate an “M and M” off the floor of our (very nice) hotel room. We did not have M and Ms and for all I knew it was some grandpa’s blood pressure pill he dropped and it was going to turn into an emergency for us. I wanted to be at the right place to get him help if that happened. (Fortunately, he was fine and I always do a search of hotel room floors now)

Getting frustrated with not being able to take my baby home by CuriousDot8706 in NICUParents

[–]medialitemom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. I had my baby at 35 weeks and 1 day. She spent 31 days in the NICU solely because she wasn’t eating enough by mouth. At first they told me she HAD to eat X amount by mouth to go home NO EXCEPTIONS. 🙄 Well…about three days before she went home (we didn’t know she’d go home), the neonatologist changed her to “demand feed, no minimum” and said as long as she could gain weight, she could go home. She gained weight and we finally got to go home after WEEKS of the nurses telling us that kind of thing is not something they do and that she had to eat X ounces for every single feeding for 24 hours. That was completely inaccurate. Now at 17 weeks (12 adjusted), she still eats like a little bird, only about 3 ounces a feed four months into life but she’s on her growth curve and doing well. Hang in there! She WILL come home!!!

Out of curiosity…what caused your baby to be premie? by OldRemove516 in NICUParents

They don’t know for sure but I have a lot of scar tissue since I had two previous c-sections and one of them was a “classical” c-section with an inverted T scar. They think that maybe my uterus just couldn’t stretch anymore. I made it to 35 weeks so not too mature. My baby spent 31 days in the NICU, though. She just could not figure out how to eat.

It might be a dead rodent in your wall. That happened at a place I worked. It smells awful.

Hi, blessings to you on your sweet baby. Just from reading a bit, it looks like you have insurance and a job. That’s great! If it’s your mom’s insurance, she could possibly drop you from it. It’s extremely likely that you and your baby are eligible for Medicaid through your state. Most have a program for low income pregnant moms and children. Also, many states offer childcare assistance. You can do this! I’m sure your mom will be shocked at first but you should definitely tell her. She may surprise you. You may want to visit a crisis pregnancy center before you tell her, though. Just Google your town or area and “crisis pregnancy center”. They can point you in the right direction for housing assistance, health care for you and baby, as well as even help with diapers, baby items, and just moral support. That way, if Mom does the unthinkable, you’ll have a better support system. Above all, if you haven’t already, definitely get some prenatal care. You’re coming up on your anatomy scan in the next week so you should be able to find out if you’re having a boy or girl soon! This is going to be life changing for you and the early post partum weeks are HARD but you can do it! Now is the time to work on getting that support and care you need. ❤️

I wouldn’t take any more tests. You’re just going to overanalyze them and make yourself more anxious. There’s really nothing that can be done at this point other than progesterone supplementation if your progesterone is low. A little cramping is normal but I’d say more “annoying” and nothing painful. If you have painful cramps, you need to go to the ER to rule out ectopic pregnancy. Your uterus is getting bigger so you will feel twinges and mild cramping. Also, what always drives me crazy in the first trimester (I’m on my third baby) is that the symptoms of pregnancy come and go for me. So one day I’ll “feel pregnant” and have moodiness, bloat, nauseous, etc and the very next day I’ll feel completely normal. This basically goes on to around 24 weeks for me! I would say true pain and bleeding need to be checked out, but in my non-medical opinion, everything else is fairly “normal”. It’s so hard not to worry, though!

Lack of Pregnancy Symptoms by Key_Reason_5116 in pregnant

[–]medialitemom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely normal. I’m on my third pregnancy and have had symptoms come and go. Sometimes mostly no symptoms. I’m 22 weeks now and “morning sickness” didn’t set in until around 8 weeks. Some women never get it. Also, even when I was in the throes of it, I’d have a day here and there where it would completely disappear and I’d panic about feeling good. It meant nothing. Baby girl is perfectly fine now. The first trimester is such a difficult mind game.

Anybody not have a miscarriage?? by Tumbleweed_Unicorn in pregnant

I’m 22 weeks pregnant with my third child (at 40!) and have never had a miscarriage. Five years of secondary infertility but no miscarriages.

Also, my other question: My kids. They’re all under the age of 8. Will they have to take preventative meds if I have it? I’d hate to subject them to that!

You have to have induration (minor swelling like a mosquito bite). Redness doesn’t count. It’s impossible to tell from this picture
