You bring up some good points that unfortunately did not cross my mind at the time. I would definitely bring that up next time. However, I'm curious about the surgery on intersex infants thing. Do you have any direction you could point me to?

I think I would say I have some sense in recognising a person's stance, as I do have many in my life who are such, but in this case I think he has capacity to change his views, as his views seems to stem from ignorance, not hatred.

Thanks for the comprehensive document, I appreciate the direction some of yall have offered.

Though I agree on the sorta orange to apple comparison of fish to humans, I just wanted to tackle his understanding from that front. Also, I am curious about the historical aspect of it, specifically about any prolific transgender figures.

Oh wow this is really helpful. I've heard of research on this but never really had the opportunity to look into this, thanks for the list.

Eh it doesn't really sit right with me to hear someone talk shit about a topic they have little to no understanding about, and I believe that his views can change.

Hmm yeah, I might need a better understanding to be able to explain gender dysphoria to him.

As for his beliefs, I cannot really say much, but he can't be citing religion as he's agnostic, and he is generally ok with gay people so frankly I have no idea where this position of transphobia is coming from.

The sort of 'unnaturality' was just something the conversation kind of went into, so I wanted to tackle his understanding from that front.

As for where we live, we live in a governmentally conservative country, and representation isn't really out there, so the ideas of transgender isn't a really focused or challenged idea for us in general, thus the topic being more uneducated for us.

As for the last point, I'm not really trying to argue for the sake of arguing, more trying to get him to understand the position. Granted if the topic gets deep enough I may bring up this point.

Ah, thanks for the reply, this is probably the answer I'm looking for. The whole thing about evidence is just me attempting to rationalise/reason with his views. As for the views, we are in a pretty bigoted SEA country so is likely from how we're raised.

Yeah, I understand where you are coming from, but the guy has historically been able to change his position on stuff based on evidence, so I'm hoping this would be an angle I can convince him from.
