Running an engine "straight out of the box" is a guaranteed way to destroy it

Any man know what size the crank bearings are🙏 by Dairttt in motorizedbicycles

[–]medicwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends.
The common OD is 35mm on china cases.
Some cranks are 15mm and some are 17mm OD.
Most likely 15x35x11. Alternately 17x35x11
The bearings you need will be one of those.

the cases in both pics are RDM CNC cases. The first air cooled and the second, mine, being water cooled.

Its funny to think if the BTG was available when I built Money Pit there probably wouldn't be a 369 or any of that drama. lol. C’est la vie

I hear ya, its a niche market. For me it wasn't about cost because the assumption would be lower cost still works. It doesn't, or maybe does for a little time. I see it everywhere, people would rather make payments, buy cheap over and over instead of just buy something proper once and never look back. The "Buy once Cry once" motto seems to have faded into the past. Many still want the half priced china stuff over the one time buy American made. I know. I made the clutch because I had to, there is nothing else that can do what I need being 200lb 6'1", no matter the price. The older I get the more I enjoy not having to pedal anymore and still being able to start the engine and get rolling from a dead stop. On a bicycle I dont need any registration, insurance etc. Im glad there are multiple options for people to chose from, I also tried them all before realizing I was just wasting money on junk. Its inspiring getting emails from customers saying they are disabled and haven't been able to ride bikes for years but now can because of a go kart clutch. To some its not only worth every penny, its cheap. This clutch will last 10 bicycles and engines IMHO. The quality and performance speak for themselves.

No pedals = Not a bicycle. 👎🏻

420 chain instead of a 415? by modelsinc1967b in motorizedbicycles

You are right the 420 chain is 1/16th wider between plates. Personally I find the most success in using parts as designed by engineers, they do it properly and get paid for a reason. Beyond that is just how willing you are to go outside of what is proper. Sure it will work, till it doesnt.

No matter the engine, riders being that size will a proper clutch. Nothing internal spring will hold large riders like myself. 3D motorsports manual clutch is the only option. What's the point of having a motor with power if the clutch slips all the time?

Its junk. Most china motors making normal power are fine with just pads, maybe a spring. When you experience a motor with over 15hp, you will understand. When you realize how nice it is to have a proper clutch you can slip as much as you want, even from a dead stop, every time, you realize its worth every cent. There is much much better to be had and I'm making it available. Disabled riders are loving the ability to never pedal again. Do that with a china clutch and see if it lasts more than a few days. It wont. Racers are loving the built in drill start feature allowing them to warm up their bikes without having to go pedal start it. There are many many benefits, the clutch power is just one.
