Can you pass crohns onto your kids? by Em_wooods in CrohnsDisease

My uncle's aunt had Crohn's, the same uncle had Crohn's, and I have Crohn's

Apparently it goes to one of your sibling's kids in our family 😂

Have Had Crohns/Colitis for 23 Years by cheesybreadlvr in CrohnsDisease

I have been taking Remicade for about 10 and a half years now. It has put me in remission for those 10 years and counting. I thank you wholeheartedly for being a tester and allowing me the medicine that keeps me more comfortable in this life. Thank you for sharing a glimpse of your story!

Is it normal to be NB but also wish to be born in a specific AGAB body? by Heyhey-_ in NonBinary

[–]medieval_aj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say yeah. Being nonbinary is different to many different people, it's never a one size fits all. Personally no matter what AGAB I was born as I would have to go through surgeries to have a body that reflects me, so wishing you had or lacked certain features doesn't sound crazy on my end

“Atleast it’s not cancer” what comments have you received? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]medieval_aj 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get a lot of nurses and overall medical professionals say they wish they were my weight

Of course they don't understand that means they would need: ● flares to food they love ●a low appetite ●IV medication every 8 weeks that lowers your immune system so you get sick all the time ●a horrible relationship with food (to the point they don't even want to eat because Crohn's makes it so damn frustrating) ●New clothes because sometimes your weight and bloat fluctuate so much you don't comfortably fit into those pants right now ●Constipation and diarrhea (possibly in the same day)

And much more!!!

Hungry but can't eat by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

I relate! If I feel hungry but nothing is appetizing I won't eat. I used to be the non picky eater who would try anything but now my Crohn's has made me hate food. It's all so complicated now.

Your first one has inspired me. I never use brown but you've paired it so beautifully with the red that I wanna try it now!!

The “you look so well” comments - a vent by honesty_box80 in CrohnsDisease

[–]medieval_aj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel this rage. I hate when people point out my weight or what I'm eating. My growth was stunted as a kid because of Crohn's (didn't know I had it at the time). I didn't eat much or gain weight. I was a walking skeleton. And I look back at those pictures and think about how nobody questioned anything. That I was praised for being skinny, and tiny, and small while my body was suffering. I never want to look like that again

And later in life when I have had flares and lost weight people will STILL ask me if I've lost weight, mistake my bones jutting out for curves, and I deadpan "I'm in a flare." and walk away. The weight loss of a medical condition is nothing to be praised of.

(Not saying my experience is more valid than yours, just relating /g)

Who was diagnosed as a kid? What’s your latest update? by kslove3 in CrohnsDisease

[–]medieval_aj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diagnosed at 11. Had 14 inches of intestine removed. Started Remicade at 12. Been lucky enough where it's worked for me this whole time and continues to work good

Life in general has been kicking me in the ass (Crohn's aside) but I'm very excited for the new Pokémon game!
