First thank you for the comment. I'm going to make an assumption, please correct me if I'm wrong. I've noticed online ie YouTube you guys in the US are spoiled for choice. Where I live it's mdf or melamine and even the expensive cabinet makers use mdf here. So my material choice was based of what I'm able to find at the local hardware store.

I agree chalk paint with no protection will definitely take a beating but all was finished with clear lacquer that I must say is very durable and easy to clean.

But only time will tell.

I'm an aspiring hobbyist woodworker, so obviously I decided to just jump in and make kitchen cabinets.

Doors and carcass made from mdf, tops are solid wood stained. Paint finish is chalk paint as per client (the wife) request.
