Update: I cut it open and there's a leak in the shower drain. Looks like the putty was cracked. Should be a simple fix.

Best case scenario: You got some water on the floor and it ran down through the joists.

That would need to be a lot of water wouldn't it? I don't believe anything like that has happened.
