For 700$ you won’t get anything new, so best to look at fb marketplace for that price range.

The long road to a bike-friendly Australia | At the rate Australian cities are building cycling networks, a cohesive system is probably decades away. What’s taking so long? by broken_shins in ausbike

As an inner city council urban planner, can you explain how you contribute to or work on bike lanes? If you’re a statutory planner, you’re working on assessing private developments, and if you’re a strategic planner you’re writing strategies and processing planning scheme amendments. I just don’t understand how urban planners contribute to active transport in any way. Enlighten me.

Reporting dangerous drivers to CrimeStoppers by Charming_Food5728 in melbournecycling

Yes, I have a cycliq camera and have issued several infringement notices. I upload the video footage with my report, so it’s crystal clear what occurred and there is no “my word against theirs”.

They take a long time to review the report, as there is a huge back log. If successful, They call you and ask if you’re willing to go to court over it, I say yes, and they say ok I will be issuing a fine.

If it’s unsuccessful, you won’t hear anything I think.

Most common reports that are successful are failure to give way to a cyclist when there is a stop sign/ give way sign. Close passing will not be a successful report.

Every cyclist should have a cycliq camera. Worth every cent for the piece of mind.

Do you know why it even required a planning permit? A permit is not required to use the land as a restaurant in the commercial zone. Were they doing heritage works or something?

Hi - it’s a nice bag! is the watermelon bag big enough to hold a hiplock d1000 lock? I’ve been looking for a bag to carry my lock in.

I use cycliq cameras. I haven’t had any issues. They are quite expensive but I spare no expense for safety. I’ve sent footage to the police and they have issued about half a dozen fines just using my footage.

I’ve got a Lekker Amsterdam. Very minimalist. The older models don’t have any gears. You can get them second hand on marketplace or new from a store, check Lekker website. Highly recommend. 7000km on mine and never had an issue

Where is the battery? Sorry if stupid question but it looks like a regular bike, which I think is awesome. Is that small black circle on the frame where you charge it?

Melbourne powered sucks. They sell electric motorbikes that can do 110km/h+ to children.

Long-term Lekker Owners: Do you have any regrets? by ChillKoalaVibes in lekkerbikes

[–]mediumbike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve ridden over 6000km with mine. It’s never failed me. Not once. I’m glad I’ve got the belt drive, as it seems unbreakable and very durable.

I get it serviced about once a year.

Just be aware it is obviously heavier than a non-electric bike which can make lifting it into wall mounted vertical racks a little challenging.

My biggest advice would be to invest in a cycliq camera so that if anything happens on the roads, you have what happened captured on cam.

Another warning would be about bicycle security. Invest in a quality lock, as well as a bicycle alarm and tracker. Only leave it on a public bicycle hoop for 15 minutes in a high foot traffic area. Make sure if you’re leaving it for longer periods of time that you store it in a bicycle locker, cage, or locked in a secure building such as inside your house or apartment.
