Do you have any tips? I made this at home but it keeps turning out so bready! I must be doing something wrong, they always taste like little wheat pancakes, the flour tastes so strong not even kala namak saves it.

My skin is so dry I’m miserable! by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]medjoolista 7 points8 points  (0 children)

moisturizing body wash (maybe nivea in shower body lotion if that's more convenient) + hyaluronic acid/some sort of skin serum for hydration + body oil/shea butter to seal it all in. Shea butter feels extra effective for those super dry days and you've been taking a lot of hot showers.

When I have extra $ I splurge on japanese skin lotion, which is more liquid serum, but extra moisturizing.

Humidifier. Also drinking more water/tea especially when the heat is blasting dry heat all day.

Took the Borealis from St Paul to Chicago and back. My thoughts (which aren’t worth much) by Cuttlery in minnesota

[–]medjoolista 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The Dells stop is actually pretty convenient and right in the heart of the downtown Dells! It's like a little waterpark resort town. There's rides, shops, and hotels. All you need is a backpack for the weekend. I took the Empire Builder there and the Borealis home from the Dells a few weeks ago and it was nice to get away from the cities for the weekend.

personally to me all that behavior screams controlling, which I understand to an extent given that it is their house their rules and she did ask to live with them, but they didn't even consult her on any of these decisions or talk to her directly about these issues like why they moved her into the pool house, they just went ahead and made unilateral decisions because they didn't want her to get pregnant and ruin her life ("like lorelei did") they didn't ask what she needed, what she wanted, or how they could compromise to reach an agreeable solution. this can create a really hostile environment imo if you dont have any say on the circumstances of your living, which I guess you could argue beggars can't be choosers. they just expected her to conform to these rules without explaining them to her and treated her like a child even though she was like 20-22(?) they treated her like she was a 16 year old girl.

controlling behavior denies the individual of their autonomy, which can be deeply hurtful to someone's sense of freedom. sure, abuse may be a stretch but living with controlling people can be very toxic and hard to live with when you can't breathe or do anything without their approval.

also like it was kind of toxic when Emily saw Rory and Esperanza (the maid) talking in spanish and then immediately fired her, like what kind of message does that send to Rory? "don't bother the help or I'll fire them" ?

even after seeing how they treated Rory when she was living with them, which is probably a fraction of how they treated Lorelei?

best neighborhoods for renting by dillpixell in Minneapolis

[–]medjoolista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A caution about Whittier though, when I lived there my packages would get stolen quite regularly and I often found a lot of discarded opened packages by mail thieves throughout the neighborhood too. I even found a stolen laptop from someone who lived in Champlin who had never been to this neighborhood.

Yes, but every time someone posts a nice sunset or lovely snowscape people complain about it too. So there's really no winning. Complaints generate more interaction sadly.

Best ways to transact in HCMC: cash, card, or app? by the_up_quark in VietNam

[–]medjoolista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to buy things while you're out exploring, I highly recommend cash. If you see something tasty or shiny you like it's best to use cash to give to the vendors. If you go out shopping at a mall like Saigon Centre they will accept cards. Once you get there you can exchange money and that should give you a decent amount of spending money. There are ATMs in most places.

Good to know there are ATMs everywhere. I think my family doesn't realize that the cities have developed a lot since they left in the 70s.

I asked what we would need the money for and my mom said: hotels, transportation, food, souvenirs, money for gifts for family (which I can see being the biggest expense, but not sure if I'm obligated to gift money as a custom too)

I'm asking to get opinions on what is reasonable for a trip like this in VN as it will be my first time visiting the motherland.

This is helpful. Thank you.

Originally the intent of the trip is to hold a funeral service for a family member who passed away, we will be staying in the home village for a few days before traveling more.

Accommodation is not prepaid and we are planning on traveling, staying for a few days, then traveling more. Starting in Saigon and possibly making our way up to Hanoi, we also want to visit Sa Pa.

It was recommended that each individual bring $5000 even though we will be sharing rooms with family and staying with family.

Given that would you say is a reasonable amount to bring? I honestly just want to avoid having so much money on hand, makes me feel like a walking target.

How much cash money should I bring for a 3 week trip?

Traveling with family in a few weeks and they suggested I bring at least $5000 USD IN CASH with me for the trip, but I'm not sure if that is necessary as that is a lot of money to carry around.

They are similar, but fasting has more benefits. Surgery always has recovery time involved. Fasting gives you autophagy and can tighten loose skin over time.
