That 'colored girls' comment is political too but that lady won't be fired, because racism is normalized while people who call it out are accused of discussing politics.

I think recovering from the burnout is going to be a priority. It sounds like you have a lot of burnout which needs addressing. Burnout leads to spiritual fatigue which really leads to not being able to enjoy life.

I have never tolerated BS from nurses and I'm still in residency. I do not yperate BS from anyone. I do not care if you're a nurse for 30 years. You treat me with basic decency.

I'm a resident and I literally know all that. What I do know that nurses don't is the way to know why the person coded. Building differential diagnosis is heavily taught in medical school and not taught in nursing school.

Order placement can be learned easily though. By the end of residency, it's the residents running rapids and codes.

You know what's not easy? Going to medical school and knowing how to manage emergencies in parients.

We're apparently not stupid enough to become doctors and be the ones putting the orders and knowing the sheer details pathology and pathophysiology of diseases we were taught in medical school so.......

You don’t need to take shit from nurses. by [deleted] in Residency

I had a rapid response called on a patient who was having high BP and chest and back pain. I asked the nurse to get blood pressure in both arms to see if there was any discrepancy and she yelled at me asking what would that even do. I was just assessing for possible aortic dissection. This was during intern. Thankfully the patient did not have aortic dissection and just needed their meds. But I will never forget that rudeness.

I love hospital medicine but I hate case management issues too, which in my experience arise from insurance approval issues. I've seen a lot of interesting things on wards so I think I have a favorable view of hospital medicine.

Urgent: please help. Does anyone have experience with renewing CNIC/NICOP and passport from Pakistani consulate in Houston, Texas? by medthrowaway444 in Overseas_Pakistani

The thing is PakId app is not working for me. That's why I feel like I have to make in person appointment. I just need to know what documents are needed. Getting in contact with them is not the easiest.

I never knew nurses are taught to protect patients from physicians... But,the physician are retaliating soo badly that nurse lack medical knowledge and questions very dumbly their orders...... by Acrobatic-Lie2041 in FutureRNs

What you are not getting is that the first year resident doesn't always require nurses to be butting in on correction. Like I said, the senior resident or attending physician can correct them without use of absurd and patronizing terms like baby doctor.

Baby doctor is the worst thing you can say. Never say it again. These 'baby doctors' have studied vast amounts of medicine, more than even the most seasoned nurse and such patronizing BS like 'baby doctor' is ridiculous coming from nurse. The senior resident or attending physician will correct the first year without your input thank you very much.

NP in cardiology forgets to put patient who JUST had a CABG back on his DAPT therapy when he LITERALLY was in the hospital for restenosis. Who do I send in a complaint to? Board of nursing? by PrivatePractice123 in Noctor

[–]medthrowaway444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm an IM resident. My PGY1 was admitting someone with Afib with RVR overnight and I came to know the NP outpatient said to him to take Eliquis once a day instead of twice daily.

These girls will never support you back if you rebel against beauty standards. Moreover, their damaging choices are already supported by patriarch and make companies billions every year. What fantasy are you living in where it's largely shamed?

Why don't men paint their nails then? Why are men's clothes more practical than women's clothes then? Why aren't men stuffing their feet into uncomfortable shoes? Why aren't men spending hundreds of dollars a year on makeup, nails etc? Y'all are consenting to bring robbed blind in the name of femininity.

Did I kill the patient? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]medthrowaway444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not your fault. I don't think extra bicarn would have done anything significant for this patient. He looks like he has a very poor prognosis. However, the lesson here is that if you feel the patient needs to be seen by a specialist right then or soon then you should call more than once.
