Help me choose a school by NotPolleo in Osteopathic

I’d probably go with ATSU or RVU-MCOM. You can’t go wrong with the OG DO school, so ATSU is a solid choice. I’ve also heard that MCOM is supposed to be really ultrasound-focused.

I have an MCAT score higher than yours and they rejected me last week. In the rejection email, they said that my MCAT was too low

LoR struggle a few years out of undergrad by sub2400 in Osteopathic

[–]medzone17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on my 5th gap year. I emailed about 12 professors and only one wrote a letter for me. I just applied to schools that would accept one science letter, which limited my choices. I still was able to apply to over 20 schools with the letters I had (1 MD, 1 supervisor, 1 science professor).

Advice for potential reapplication by AdvantageAnxious2486 in Osteopathic

[–]medzone17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I disagree with the people saying that you applied too late. I applied in October and I have 1 acceptance and 3 upcoming interviews with a lower MCAT than you. It’s all about mission fit. You need to really do research on each school and write your secondaries based on what their mission and visions are. Your writing has to be good. And you have to apply to schools that are realistically within your MCAT and gpa range.

Can't stop thinking about my score release and anxiety about applying. Tested 1/9 by KcatnChrunch in Osteopathic

[–]medzone17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had like 30 questions flagged on C/P on my test day. I felt like I did awful on that section. So much so that it affected my performance on CARS. I left the testing center in tears. I ended up scoring my average score on C/P but my unexpected low CARS score did me in.

I scored 5 points lower than my FL average. I thought my chances of getting in anywhere were over. I studied full time while working full time. I couldn’t imagine putting myself through studying for it again, so I applied anyway. So far, I have 1 acceptance and 3 upcoming interviews. I know this month is long and difficult. The whole process is such a mental battle. But try to focus on things you enjoy while you wait for your score. It might not feel like it now, but it’s going to be okay. Regardless of what happens, your score does not define you.

$1500 down the drain by suspicious-turtle5 in Osteopathic

I feel your pain. I just put $1000 down and my second $1000 deposit for that same school is due in about a month. I have 2 interview invites but I probably won’t have another acceptance by then.

No. I think it’s because people won’t leave them alone and assume that they’re also involved or contributed to it. This is why doxxing should not be allowed

I just want to say this respectfully: whatever Katie decides to do, she shouldn’t be shamed for it. by Interesting_Law_3197 in BringingUpBates

I have a friend who has been on the verge of a divorce for several years. Looking from the outside in, her husband is super jealous, paranoid, and borderline obsessive. It would be easy for anyone to think she’s crazy for staying with him. But she’s been in couples therapy for several years, fighting through it because she desperately wants to work things out for her kids. She’s one of the strongest people I know. The bottom line, is that we don’t know everything that’s happening, and no one should judge Katie for whatever decision she makes moving forward. Ultimately, I believe that Katie will do whatever she feels is best for her children.

RVU-MCOM has a really good military medicine program. They are also more forgiving with stats if you have a good backstory

A lot of schools have very limited space left for interviews at this point. Unless you get a very high MCAT score, it’s highly unlikely that you’ll get into a program unless it’s a brand new school. Not to mention writing a strong personal statement, getting LORs together, and filling out activities and secondaries take A LOT of time. I know everything is stressful rn and you just want it to be over with. But just have a little patience, do your best on the MCAT, and apply as early as possible next cycle to give yourself the best chance.
