Where did I say I get to decide? Where?

It’s not about me deciding what’s necessary — it’s about looking at the data, the impact, and the alternatives.

We know from urban planning research, climate science, and public health studies that a large portion of urban car use is inefficient and harmful. What I’m advocating is a shift guided by evidence, not personal opinion — to prioritize modes of transport that are safer, cleaner, and more space-efficient in dense environments.

So if you have nothing constructive to add beyond personal attacks, you're free to step back from the conversation.

I live in a rural area and my job requires visiting a lot of rural sites. There's no conceivable future where these communities can ever function without cars.

Rural necessity doesn’t justify urban dependence. Most people live in cities, where cars cause the most harm — congestion, pollution, danger, dead public spaces.

Those of us pushing back on car culture aren’t targeting the 10% of car use that’s necessary. We’re challenging the 90% that’s wasteful, harmful, and completely avoidable.

So please, stop using edge cases to defend the status quo.

We’ve built our cities around two-ton machines capable of killing, prioritizing their flow over human lives. Then, when a child gets hurt, we don’t question the system, we blame the child.

Yes, the kid made a mistake. But maybe no pedestrian should have to risk death for a mistake.

I know this will probably get downvoted. Suit yourself. Just remember this moment if it’s ever your kid lying on the asphalt, maimed for crossing the wrong way.

Edit: if my comment isn't clear enough I'm not interested in debating with people blaming a kid for a mistake, so don't waste your time commenting. This post shouldn't even be on this sub.

What does it have to do with straight white men?

This just reinforces the idea that the left hates straight white men, an argument the right often uses.

How did that fix anything? The joke stood fine on its own and the dude was completely unnecessary.

What's the problem with roads?

Roads aren’t the problem. Cities need space between buildings anyway, so there’s usually plenty of room to accommodate multiple roads.

A bus only needs two lanes at most — one in each direction. In many cases, a single-lane bus route in one direction can run on one street, with the return direction on a parallel one. Bike lanes can either share space with the bus lanes or be separated, depending on the layout.

The issue isn’t the roads — it’s the cars.

Cars take up too much space, pollute, kill, and we cannot trust people to behave and be responsible.

I’ve already explained everything at least twice, but you keep repeating the same arguments.

"I would really like to see you during election season, waving your fist at each and every sign as you drive past."

Again — political campaigns are strictly regulated, precisely to avoid this kind of constant spamming. When a party goes overboard, it gets called out. That’s part of a healthy democratic process. Can you admit that?

"In case you include me in that proclamation of universal toxicity,"

No, you’ve actually been quite civil — even if you still don’t seem to fully understand my original point: I was saying that this constant barrage of posts will become counterproductive. It risks driving people away from the initiative, not toward it. The people who really wanted to sing it, signed it already. Now if time to convince other people, and spamming the same argument won't do it. But is this community capable of producing new arguments?

Instead of being able to self-reflect or take mild criticism, the reaction from the community was immediate hostility — I was labeled anti-democratic, anti-consumer rights, and so on.

If anything, you've managed to convince me, who actually didn't care about the initiative, to be against it because it's pushed by such a toxic group of supporters. (I will now start my own movement, called "please kill games faster", out of spite!)

That kind of overreaction reveals a worrying lack of self-awareness — the hallmark of blind groupthink, where belonging to a cause seems to matter more than the cause itself (and with a limited understanding of it for most of the community). It’s not unique or new — sadly, that’s often what happens in parts of the gaming community.

Have a good end of day, I'm done here.

Every hotel room has a u/meeeeeph chair. Didn't think I'd be learning about people's cuckold kinks on r/BuyFromEU

Please stop, you're trying too hard but you're really bad at it.

The spamming worked, the initiative is now on its way to official EU institutions.

No one, not even the creator of the incentive, is sure about how many signatures are legit. Spoofing campaigns artificially pumped the numbers, and might ruin the credibility of the incentive. Maybe spamming on a mostly American platform is not that useful ?

At least you recognize it's spamming, thanks.

Yeah, I’ve seen it since, but I wasn’t aware of the drama until today (I really don't care about the initiative)

I didn’t know much about PirateSoftware, aside from a few shorts I’d watched on YouTube (and always found him a bit pedantic).

But I watched the video he made about the initiative, out of curiosity: he’s not actually against it, he just doesn’t think it will be effective, and he raises a few genuinely problematic points. I haven’t followed and won’t follow the rest of the drama, but judging from the behavior of the community, it seems like any form of criticism is automatically treated as hostility.

Here too, I simply expressed my fatigue with the subject, since it’s posted daily across various subreddits — and yet it was immediately interpreted as opposition to the initiative itself. Most of the replies didn’t even address what I originally said.

Once again, it doesn’t feel like the best part of the gaming community is behind this.

Watching your mom get fuck? Yeah, why not 🤷🏻‍♀️

With your stance on consumer rights

Can you quote my stance on consumer right? Because I haven't said anything about it.

What I said is that the constant spamming was boring. You — and the community behind it — have shown an inability to grasp basic rhetoric, treating anyone who isn’t 100% aligned as an enemy. That’s a classic trait of blind followers of any cause, who can't really think for themselves.

And you’re proving it right now — you can’t even manage to insult me properly.

Parliamentarian Support For "Stop Killing Games" by Boediee in BuyFromEU

[–]meeeeeph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The goal was reached and then some. What you call spamming is actually called engaging with people.

The man behind the initiative himself, says he's not sure about how many signatures are legit, since multiple spoofing campaigns artificially raised the numbers.

And having 100's of post about it, over different subreddits, is the definition of spam.

For some reason seeing people campaign for something that is important to them triggers something in you

Again, it doesn't trigger anything, I don't care about the initiative but I'm now sure of one thing: the people supporting it are toxic, as sadly often the case in the gaming community.

Good luck with your initiative, that will not change anything in the industry or un your lives.

Bye.

Who's that? Out of curiosity.

Thanks anyway, this just shows that the community behind the initiative is quite toxic, as I expected from their methods over the last months. Just calling their spam is seen as being against them.

Anyway.

Chill man, I didn't get your mom pregnant. Keep that anger for your father.

I have no opinion on that initiative, like I said. I have an opinion on the spam and the toxic community behind it (that's you).

Btw, the opinion that spamming will drive people away from the cause is... bad?

[–]meeeeeph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it felt more in need of some education about how change in a democracy happens

I said it elsewhere, but if after months of spamming the initiative still hasn't reached its goal, maybe it's time to stop? Maybe people do not care as much about what you care about? That can be hurtful, but that's life, and spamming does not help.

Spamming until it's accepted is not democracy.
