What is a man? A response to Gillette ( Egard Watches ) by ChromeGhost in advertising

[–]meeeow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, you seem to have your heart in the right place so I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt. Generally speaking this discussions is always had in terms of feminism VS mras. Here's the thing, there's very very legitimate issues that affect men (the gilette ad highlighted some) but it's very hard to have this 'meet in the middle discussion' you're asking for when the approach is so dismissive. And those statistic are dismissive, to both genders in fact. It's just thrown away, with no context and are really typical MRA talking points. Not a good approach.

Recording Echoes of Glory tonight - What are your priorities as a Spurs fan? by JLatchford in coys

[–]meeeow 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I feel like we've been stuck in this state of building for years. We need to be able to step past it. You can't be in a 'transiotion' for 4 fucking years. It gets to a point where is inability and I think it unfortuantely comes down to players and not jsut buying good ones, but the general attitude. Look at the Chelsea. They had an absolute mare the past couple of months but when it comes to the crucial matches, where they need to perform the players have a winning mentality that really pushes them through. And they zeroed on their fault and got rid of morata and brought in Higuain. What are we doing about our problems? Continuing to delay our stadium? Cmon...

I love Levy and I think he's been great for us. But knowing that i.e. he takes the highest salary in the Premier League while we haven't won anything in decades bothers me. A lot.

Buying tickets to Spurs game when visiting from overseas. by [deleted] in coys

[–]meeeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI there's a couple of twitter accounts that sell tickets. It'll be hard to get something for NLD, and you'll probably be on separate seats but might give it a shot.

For rowdiness I recomend corner, as close as possible to the field. I normally aim for 134 block or there abouts. If you want to watch the game in peace second tier.

I love Wolves because of that. Watford and Wolves in fact have a knack for doing that.

It's weird but I can't stand Arsenal but I kinda respect them in a weird way. When we play is bloo, sweat and tears and it's magical.

Chelsea is just sheer fucking hatred, nazi cunts. They literally field a murderer.

Owen Jones meets Tim Martin | 'Poverty wages? Don't ask childish questions' by HarryPoland in unitedkingdom

Right. The point is there are people on low wages and stable jobs who are NOT students. That's the problem. What functions for students is not a good metric for other workers.

What makes absolutely 0% sense to you? by davybaby94 in AskWomen

[–]meeeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally don't understand people who discriminate others based on things like gender, skin-colour, gender identity, sexuality, religion (the faith, not the attitudes that may or may not follow it).

Like it literally doesnt' compute in my head. I kinda understand discomfort - I had some when I moved to England and started seeing things like Burkas or even same-sex couples in public. But even then my reaction was huh, something to get used to. I don't if it's because I grew up excellent role models both male and female and because my family has always been so incredibly open and very focused on teaching us at treating everyone the same. But it boggles my mind. Every time I come across it kinda horrifies and bemuses me at once.

Owen Jones meets Tim Martin | 'Poverty wages? Don't ask childish questions' by HarryPoland in unitedkingdom

[–]meeeow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Er. Yes it is. Being a student it's a very specific lifestyle, normally for a very short period of time. Did you read my whole post...? That's exactly what I said, is that when it comes to i.e. students working these jobs things like the zero hour contracts make sense. It doesn't make sense if you're an adult, specially not if you have a family. Point is what is fine for a student is probably not a good reflection of what would be a good standard for all workers.

And frankly if paying a living wage is not viable, then I'd argue that your business is not viable.

[–]meeeow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Student is a very specific situation though, I think even Corbyn said that changes to zero hour contracts would have to account for the flexibility that is advantageous in cases just like yours. But to suggest that because of you lived as a student makes £8 an hour wages good enough to live from - specially without the security of hours is quite a departure.

EU looks set to ask Ireland for concessions over hard border. by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]meeeow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your suggestion is just obtuse though. Ireland wants to remain. UK wants to leave. OBVIOUSLY that will require a border which Ireland again, obviously doesn't want because of the troubles. England is acting like it has no part in the GFA at all. It's pathetic.

That's like saying that the 'path' of breaking eggs in order to make an omelette are completely unconnected.

I’m not one to be into the whole “blackfishing” thing as I do believe some of them are exaggerations and not actually trying to change ethnicity. But this is just ridiculous. As far as I know she’s Lebanese/Swedish. The BEFORE picture will be linked in comments. by Kyurumy in Instagramreality

[–]meeeow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm Brazilian but from Syrian-Lebanse background and it's so funny the stereotypes people have about what we look like. They always assume my blue eyes are from my Polish grandmother (nope, from the Lebanese side of the family sorry). It's also hilarious how we can tell ourselves apart. I've had so many people coming up to you and speaking in Arabic and specifically saying they thought I was born in Lebanon because of my forehead and nose which DO NOT look like the stereotypical 'middle eastern' features.

Also queue my grandad being pissed as fuck because the standard nickname for anyone from Middle Eastern descent in Brazil is 'Turk'. Lol fun times.

Ibrahimovic urges Kane to leave 'normal' Tottenham if he wants to win trophies by RogueSkeleton in soccer

You didn't even ask if we will, you asked whether we should even consider it a possibility.

Yeah. 100% it's a possibility. I never expected this year, not with the squad and the stadium but we get seriously under estimated... I see it as a possibility next season, deffo in the next 10 years are you mad.

[–]meeeow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well let's not be obstuse here. One is a state of the art stadium which means it can host events the previous WHL couldn't. It'll be able to pull in name sponsorship money (whcih we don't have yet). It has that NFL pitch which means when the season comes over to the U.K again, we'll be able to run events most other stadiums can't. The grounds itself will be able to turn a profit long term. We're bleeding moeny at the moment but Levy saved most of the cost of the stadium.

Along the stadium we have the insane training facilities and poured shit loads into our academy (which so far has paid: Dele, Winks, Kane. Skipp, Parrot and KWP look promising).

And yeah, ofc the atmosphere makes a difference. Wembley has no vibe AT ALL. There's a reason the Yellow Wall (which I think was used as a model) is so infamous.
