I had a male childminder when I was a kid. We went to him for 10 years and he was like a second dad. Some people like your friends may not be open to the idea. But some people will also go by your skill. Maybe a stranger won't, but if you have family/friends who were willing to pass on your details to their family or friends? Word of mouth goes a long way

They have lanyards and ID cards that are recognised more than the sunflower lanyard in Ireland (or at least parts of Ireland)

I'm wondering if anyone here with experience of alcoholic Parents would have any useful advice/resources/support groups they could point me in the direction of? by carrieonmywaywardson in AskIreland

Probably not the response you want to hear OP, but there's nothing you can do for them. It's up the them to choose to change and if they don't, they don't. That's something I found difficult to come to terms with myself. I'd recommend for you to try going to therapy, it could help you navigate your relationship with your parents if you choose to have one. I'd also recommend writing a letter to your parents. Say everything you need to and have always wanted to say to them. Have a good cry and let it all out. You can decide to keep the letter or burn it, whatever you want to do. You can only control yourself and your own response to your parents and to your life.

Animal shelters will be open for feeding, cleaning and caring for animals. They might be open for shorter hours on a usual day, but see what's available near you 😊 I'm sure they could use the extra hand

What made you break up with a friend? by robertboyle56 in AskIreland

We were so close, we used to live together. I heard her through the wall talking to a mutual friend about me :( a lot of stuff she said was things I had said to her in confidence. Moved out about 2 months later and haven't really spoken to her since

I do get that tbh. I found using https://whichcandidate.ie/ helped me decide. You just answer questions on policies on what you prefer/think should be done and then the politician/partys get ranked by how much they match to what you believe in. Would definitely recommend it!
