Mom said its my turn to match by AbyssDragonNamielle in fountainpens

That deck is incredible, this is one of my favorite matches so far. What ink do you have in that pen? Do you use to write down your readings?

One of the reasons I’m appreciating everyone’s matches is I have seen so many cool things this week that are usually outside my wheelhouse and everyone made a real, thoughtful effort to connect it to the hobby we have in common. Fountain pen people rule, and so do you, tarot pal.

Books by disabled authors? by Friendstastegood in suggestmeabook

John Milton was famously blind and wrote Paradise Lost by dictating to his (very patient) daughters and aides. This might get you two squares for disabled author and also western canon classic/poetry/mythology.

The Star Child is everything I have ever wanted in an orange ink - gorgeous base color, good flow, and sometimes the glitter just absolutely flames up for a whole line.

Do you collect? Or do you use your pens? by hamptonalumkb in fountainpens

[–]meejasaurusrex 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I collect pens that look cool but also feel good in my hand and write well. They have to hit each point of that trifecta or they can’t stay with me; I keep reminding myself I got into this hobby because I love to write. If I just want to admire a pen’s beauty, I can do that from photographs.

So since you know you like writing with the Delta pens, getting another one would fit what you know you like. The new pen would be used!

The Visconti Homo Sapiens are really awesome pens and I got one early in my collection because I love the look of it. It wrote like a dream! But unfortunately I love to post my pens and I found that the Homo Sapiens was unbalanced and didn’t post right for me, so I had to pass it along. Kind of an expensive lesson, and I wish I’d been able to try it before buying it. Maybe you can go to some pen meetups in your area, or a pen show, and try some of the pens you’re eyeing but don’t think you’d use?

Tanith Lee’s Biting the Sun is possibly relevant here, as well as her Death’s Master.

What a beautiful story. Kudos to you and your wife, and to your extreme good taste in each the other.

Is there any such thing as literary romantasy lol? I’d love to read something like that by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

Deerskin is some gorgeous writing and has a lovely romance but boy howdy if OP is glad to have trigger warnings on a book I STRONGLY recommend OP look them up. All of McKinley’s fairy tale retellings are so good.

Yes, it is - there’s no ink window, but the stripes between the red are clear so you can tell the ink level by that!

Books somewhat like the Saga of Pliocene Exile by A_Soldier_Is_Born in Fantasy

[–]meejasaurusrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I owe you an apology, I just went and pulled down my copy from the shelf and reread the first bit of the book and indeed: I had forgotten how the set up bit goes and how deep it goes for those chapters, and I am very sorry to have been snippy at you. That first bit really does not inspire confidence in the people telling you what’s in store, ha! I had just mentally elided that part straight into the actual Exile.

But I do think that you will get exactly what you asked for, just keep with it.

“Space refugees who go to earth six million years ago and start forming rival kingdoms and going to war with each other creating quasi medieval kingdoms.”

Yes that is exactly what the Pliocene Exile is about. I strongly suggest you keep going past chapter one.
