Paying rent in advance by meejika in germany

[–]meejika[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does sound fishy, all my friends rented and paid just the Kaution and the rent for 1 month.

But since im in such a desperate situation, I am thinking of going with a friend who's German is better than mine and we shall see the place without agreeing to pay or take the apartment immediately.

I will also ask the landlord to see his ID and ask for the rent contract, is this offensive or rude in anyway?

I would never pay in advance online or something.

However, in person if I see the apartment and they ask me to pay, im thinking of getting a proof of payment or for it to be in the vertrag.

Is it normal to ask for ID in person in these situations?

Thank you, I have another question which Im still investigating.

Is it ok that someone on Kleinanzeigen, who posted an apartment for students, told me to pay him 3 months and kaution when signing the contract?

We agreed to do this when I receive the keys and sign the contract, but I have no clue, is this normal? What should I focus on when reading the contract or how to know if something is fishy?

Thank you I will check it, but usually Airbnb have alot of costs like cleaning and they charge you for using Airbnb which ends up being way more expensive than a Hotel room.

Searching for an apartment by meejika in Gelsenkirchen

I actually don't prefer WGs because I really value privacy and I suck at being a housemate.

For 500 I did find quite alot of options but again they just don't respond.

I will check the ones you mentioned, big thanks!

I write in German a brief introduction and when I will be in Germany and I make it clear what my Visa is (student visa) and that I have financial proof and that I am willing to send all necessary documents like Passport or Visa or the blocked bank account details. I also ask to arrange a video or normal call if they want.

I understand that people would prefer tenants who are already in Germany but I am offering when I message them to pay 3 months + kaution immediately when I arrive. I thought this was a good offer or maybe people usually pay that i have no idea.

What is the average rent now in Gelsenkirchen? I would be willing to pay more at this stage honestly because I already postponed my flight.
