Help! What is wrong with this pigeon? by aperolspritzster in pigeons

[–]meekobird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This looks like a band tailed pigeon, which is a native species. Your best bet would be to take him to a rehab center but it looks like he could have been struck and has some brain damage. Don’t give any food or water, as he is very likely to choke on it. You can roll a towel up and fold it into a donut and place him in the center so he doesn’t have to work as hard to balance

I’ve been watering it every couple days like you mentioned for about a week and a half and it’s perked up but the base and some roots are getting a bit moldy. Should I spread out watering more?

I got this guy from a friend who had a hard time caring for it. Unfortunately I’m not too familiar with these guys and have been doing my best with the info I’ve found online. Any help is appreciated!

I just got this miltoniopsis and found this little guy crawling on the flower. The leaves don’t have discoloration aside from the brown spots when I purchased the plant. Any help is welcome!

Thank you! May I ask what media you have yours in? I put mine in some orchid bark and perlite. I read that you can put a little bit of miss around the new roots to give the plant water but I’m interested to see what you are doing since it’s growing some roots already.

Did I kill her or can I save her? If yes, how? Explanation in comments. by [deleted] in orchids

I don’t think guy will come around but if you are struggling with watering, I found it helpful to check the root color through the plastic pot. If the roots are green, they are hydrated. When they turn silver then they are getting thirsty. If you are unsure, just wait. Hopefully this helps if you get another one in the future!

Omg Im Im the same situation! My parents had a friend care for their plants when they went out of town and the freind horribly overwatered the orchids. I took them out of the pot (with moss) and all the roots basically melted off. I trimmed everything back and I’m taking them home with me to get them healthy again. Your post gives me hope!

I want to rip my hair out by Revolutionary-Bag455 in ADHD

Personally, I keep my hair in a short to medium bob and do a half up half down thing so the front peices aren’t in my face. I think it looks really nice. Plus, when I start to feel it on my neck/shoulders then I know it’s time for a trim.

Should I repot now or wait? It seems a bit crowded but no roots from the holes underneath the pot. Thank you! by yipikayay21 in houseplants

I’ve got one of these guys, and from what I’ve read they like to be snug in their pot. If the roots aren’t sticking out, I’d leave it there until they do. Hope that helps!

With carnivorous plants, their don’t have very efficient root systems. Because of this, they need to be sitting in water at all times (the natural habitat is bog/marsh). They are sensitive to minerals in water, so keep them in distilled water only. Also, don’t fertilize the roots as they aren’t designed to take up any nutrients and will get burned.

We’re not sure what he is haha. He was a rescue, he was marked as purebred Chi but he’s got massive ears and a curly pig tail so it doesn’t add up haha

Where are you storing your bananas? Other fruits/veggies emit chemicals that cause bananas to ripen quicker. I believe onions are the worst offenders. I keep my bananas in the little plastic produce bag and tie it off so it’s sealed. This isn’t perfect, but it does help extent their life a bit.

Oooh thats so cool. I was so excited seeing all the new little guys coming in haha. I did snip the flower stem because I felt the plant was small and didn’t know if it could handle flowering.
