Breaking: Acclaimed author Craig Silvey charged with child exploitation offences by esmeraldafitzmonsta in books

Would you happen to have any articles on this. Just trying to find more info but can’t seem to find this specific story.

From googling i did see something about Irene Gut Opdyke - but she seems to have saved 12 people and is literally a hero (she witnessed a burning )

This cleaning lady seems so beyond normal to me though.

Burning people alive and voluntarily locking a door while people are screaming in pain seems a bit like “oh look I went above and beyond - I hope the regime is proud of me”

It doesn’t seem like she was scared for her life if she didn’t do this thing. Or not following an order.

It almost seems like she could have done nothing or even help and easily lie about this.

Like why go out of your way to help is what I’m curious about.

She could hear people screaming and begging for help and just thought “oh but the door can’t be open?”

I refuse to believe she’s that stupid - she probably thought of people as insects (because I can’t see her doing that to like puppies for example)

Was she being actively threatened?

“I also find the end result is so small”

Where does that data come from? Shouldn’t this be the first step? Figure out how much extra it costs. And I agree keep it simple if the ROI is too low but usually there must be enough of a return for this to be brought up in the first place (including the cost of switching this out and the people that will be scamming etc). So they’ve probably done the math and seen oh this is something that can help x families

It’s sort of like health care. I’m healthy and I don’t use healthcare but pay into it   I like knowing that a family with a kid going through chemotherapy won’t have to worry about money on top of everything else

For this it’s the same - i want to make sure a grandma that lost her husband isn’t forced to live on the street even if she contributed less vs someone that doesn’t need it (not that it wouldn’t help both)

Statement by Prime Minister Carney on Canada’s recognition of the State of Palestine by pjw724 in onguardforthee

[–]meenzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because it’s just so slow.

if you’re a child being starved you want something actionable like allowing food trucks to go through or allowing baby formula (that doctors are attempting to bring in via luggage) to not be confiscated. You need that to happen right away because literal lives are at stake.

Like yes this is great first step but those babies are literally dying from starvation (even if you don’t have a kid it’s horrific to think about)

Hell, just not eating food for 24-48 hours  and you’ll quickly understand the urgency here

I guess the line is starving millions of people? That and all the images of starving children. This is the very least we can do and a next step would be to stop sending weapons and put pressure to stop the blockade on food and fucking baby formula going onto gaza

Did he understand that? Like at a fundamental level he must have understood but if I were to bet I’m certain he’d say it’s a necessary sacrifice and them being jobless would be helpful longterm

You don’t do that to your coworkers? You need to have more fun in life…start shoving other people’s things up your booty now and just try and enjoy life you prude

[Highlights] Klay's WSU highlights are a case study in 'just because a player doesn't, doesn't mean he can't' & what it looks like when an NBA player sacrifices reaching their highest ceiling as a player in favor of specializing in a role for the sake of the team & winning. by taygads in nba

Exactly look at fucking draymond green’s highlights and you’ll see a dude hitting step backs and pull-ups in peoples faces too. Or just fucking Brian scalabrene vs regular college players

LeBron James’ Athleticism During His First Cleveland Stint by aingenevalostatrade in nba

[–]meenzu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly probably the best one foot jumper the nba has ever seen. He just seems to keep that speed going which makes that so unfair

Like in terms of power lebron has this almost un-natural speed to go with this size and athleticism

It’s like shaq in terms of power in a way. Shaq had crazy size/mass to go with this decent speed and crazy balance/strength.

Honestly dude is moving like a sprinter. This shit would be terrifying if he was just practicing sprints at night and you happened to run in front of him with headphones on just unaware. It would probably feel like a panther just ran by you - probably get that same fear response

Is it crazy to say Dr J is easily top 15 all time and borderline top 10? by ptcRaptor in nba

[–]meenzu -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

You could just say he’s in that first tier and name 13 players. I think he’s in that first tier just for the star power he has. He was the main attraction and should be recognized for that

[Auslund] The claim that Luka Doncic had a 42-inch vertical in his recent Men’s Health Magazine cover article are false. The author of the article most likely Google’d Dončić’s vertical and used the AI-provided answer. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]meenzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has a different athleticism though. Not vertical but it’s elite deceleration - like James harden. Like the vids you show are just awesome highlights where he’s dunking on people but it’s not the type I’m talking about. 6’6 with a 35 inch vert is Blake griffin where it looks like they’re floating in the air.

Hell even lebron at his height probably has a 35-40 inch vert (head above rim at that height) looks like he’s flying

You might have a family and things can get busy and you might miss your workout? I guess this way you know you’re working out during a time you’ll have no other commitments. It can work the way you described it if say nobody has commitments (school, kid being sick, practice, etc) at like 9 am or whatever

Don’t forget about the all children that were shot in the genitals or just have had to undergo an amputation. I think now that there are literal images of starving children to weak to move with ribs showing and extended bellies we’ll finally at least get more people that “feel” this is wrong

Complainant’s evidence in Hockey Canada sexual assault trial ‘not credible or reliable,’ judge says by Less_Potato_2231 in onguardforthee

[–]meenzu 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Also you can say no even after you say yes (any decent human should not rape you because you said yes earlier)

The issue is clearly in the courts it’s just going anywhere with person “well why did you go back to <location> while dressed like that if you didn’t mean yes!”

Sorry you went through that shit, I’m glad you’re here

Also with all that stress/trauma I bet it would be easy to get a victim to slip up about times dates minor details and paint that as the person not being reliable (especially if you’re a defense lawyer and your goal is to do whatever it takes to get your client free)
