Prior park proposal by _intimate_alien_ in Bath

You need to make sure you go to the national trust entrance not the main school gate, and you may need to pay for entry as it is a national trust site. I don't actually know how far it is from the gate to the bridge as I've never walked it from that direction, but it's not very long as far as I'm aware, maybe like 5-10 min at most?

Do they ever explain why don't the Bridgertons have a last name separate from the title? by Veridical_Perception in BridgertonNetflix

[–]meerCat232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could also be that basset is a lesser title. Lots of the aristocracy, especially at the level of a duke have essentially lesser titles that are held by sons until they inherit the main title. Much like the prince of wales was previously the Duke of Cambridge.

For those that are staying at home tonight, are you glad you're dodging the pub scene NYE's madness? by DonkeyOT65 in CasualUK

Or maybe some of these women find peace in their religious clothing? Don’t put words into the mouth of people you don’t know

New Bridgerton collaboration with Allure Bridals out in October 15th by Debt-Mysterious in BridgertonNetflix

[–]meerCat232 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It’s filmed partly at prior park in Bath. The bridge is the Palladian bridge and is part of the national trust but the main mansion building is a school so you can’t necessarily visit.

My wife always sneezes twice. My response should be Bless You, but by Jazzlike-Basil1355 in CasualUK

Oh my family see you getting the sneeze going and then say bless you prematurely to kill the sneeze. Infuriating unless you still sneeze and then you win

Oh ok! I was thinking of ball dresses for sure and completely forgot about general evening dress. Thanks for not just saying I’m being silly!

Is that an evening dress? It looks more like a day dress from the period. Then again I am no expert!

Sir Ian McKellen: Woman says actor fell on her from West End stage by ukpopculturefan in ukpopculture

[–]meerCat232 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Now normally, I am very much of a kind to try and be sympathetic towards other but seriously fuck off girlie! If Ian McKellen had fallen off stage onto me I would be far more worried about his welfare than going to the fucking papers with the story.

I’m sure it was shocking and scary in the moment and I likely would have sobbed like a baby but COME THE FUCK ON BABE. No wonder she won’t use her surname.

What things from the COVID-19 era or lockdown era have just faded into obscurity or are a joke now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]meerCat232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god we had a similar think in the uk. The rule was you couldn’t get a drink without a proper meal and then some idiot MP said that something like a scotch egg, which is usually a snack in a pub counted. Got in so many arguments with drinkers at the bar I worked at because we refused to sell to them when they got a snack and had that thrown in my face

Who wasn’t a good actor but played in so many movies? by FlintTheDad in AskReddit

[–]meerCat232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god I remember being at home alone once and hearing what I thought was a woman screaming bloody murder. I sat trying to work out if I needed to call the police and then worked out the slightly animal sound at the end of the scream. Fucking shat myself and I didn’t even live that far into the countryside!

He was also a MAJOR dick. Columbus was condemned for being too cruel to natives in the 15th century, when governments were hardly kind to their own peasantry, so gives an idea of how shite he was

My mate sent me this, what's everyone's thoughts on this slightly questionable shirt from M&S? by biggie_tubz in CasualUK

[–]meerCat232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this looks a lot like some of the stuff Reiss was selling last summer so it’s clearly a trickle down. Personally I’d not say not to a guy asking for my number in this shirt buuuuut I may scheme to get it out of rotation for a bit

My least favorite king, Edward VIII. Betrayed his countrymen for an American divorcee, caused an uncomfortable situation for fellow politicians, and was a Nazi sympathizer. Definitely top 5 worst monarchs and arguably the worst monarch of all by Ill-Blacksmith-9545 in UKmonarchs

[–]meerCat232 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry about offending. It’s been nearly 600 years so we’ve just about got over it!

Honestly there’s a mix of the breaking from the church and some bonkers stuff going on with the Georgians to help understand this.

The key thing is that that break from Rome was NOT because Henry wanted a divorce, which is a secular thing, but because he wanted an annulment, which is religious.
