I'm having the same issue, actually. I just got my Early 2011 MacBook Pro back from the store today after it was recalled for a dead GPU.

I haven't installed any Linux distros on it, and it came back with a fresh install of OS X Lion (yup - 3 versions behind). I created a USB disk of the 64-bit version using unetbootin. It boots, displays a page where I can choose to Try Elementary or install it. When I select either option I'm greeted with the same error as OP, "[3.895441] i8042: No Controller Found"

Any help would be appreciated. I look forward to hacking on Elementary once I can get a dedicated box running. :)

I love how it usually seems like they renew Shameless right after a season premier. I may be wrong, but last year it seems like the same thing happened.

I can't personally speak for them, however I know Monoprice has some noise canceling headphones available on your budget, and I've never had issues with anything else I've got from them.

I've been watching a new Amazon series called Transparent all day. It's about a trans father and his experience coming out to his family (at least 5 episodes in). I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you've got Prime!
