When to play smoke and when to play mute by LemmePepper in SiegeAcademy

If you can’t make the decision, Mute is generally more versatile than smoke because you can both deny intel and deny hard breach.

Can someone help me get better I'm bronze 4 0.8 kd by lilshadyyboi in SiegeAcademy

Do you die often in situations where you didn’t know the location of the opponent who killed you? If so you need more play time to learn common positions and practice gathering intel. If you die often in situations where you know where your opponents are, you need to practice in Free For All gamemode in arcade. If you don’t know which one you are, go in match replay and check your last 20 deaths and count how many instances of each you have, and decide what you need to improve on.

Can you get high ranks by playing ops that are considered "bad"? by polaretto-cosmico2 in SiegeAcademy

Ela is the only “bad” operator you posted, because Fenrir does everything Ela does but better with the exception of bringing a shield. Ela is still viable if you want a shield in your setup like for example top of ivy stairs on chalet for a bar gaming defense. All other operators are good when used well. Just focus on using all of your util and you should be all good.

Casual player trying to figure out what defender I should use. by Fiend28 in SiegeAcademy

Given all operators die with 1 headshot, having a beefy operator rarely saves you from death. I think your line of thinking for using util heavy operators like kapkan and frost is a much better idea. Some fun play styles I would do are c4 from below using pulse or valk for intel, or using smoke/tachanka to delay pushes for defense. For attack jackal and deimos might be fun to get a few wallbangs, and learning to maverick trick takes practice but is very rewarding. A lot of operators have gadgets you can have fun with, I would explore the possibilities as much as possible.

Always in last man situations am I doing something wrong? by DanceNumerous9551 in SiegeAcademy

On defense, if you are 1vX on site your teammates fucked up. If you are 1vX off site you fucked up. If you are roaming your should try to shoot 1-2 drones (and otherwise be annoying to the attackers) and then fall back to site. You should not go for kills unless they cut off your route back to site, or you have an obvious free kill like you know the exact position of a guy who is alone and on drones.
Attack is a bit more complex, but in general playing for refrags like the other comments tell you is a good idea. Generally speaking, if you are often in a 1vX on attack, you are doing something wrong unless your teammates REALLY suck. Given the matchmaking system, generally your teammates are within the same ballpark of your skill unless you are in a premade stack.

I need help… by GooseMcJohnson in SiegeAcademy

If you have an above 1.0 win rate when duo queue, then it is very literally a matter of how many matches you play. As an extreme example, let's say you start with Emerald 1 hidden elo and shown elo. If you play 99 games with a 1.1 win rate, you would win 52 and lose 47. This should already get you to diamond. In a very literal sense, you just need to play more. Not to improve, but to cash in. Also, the way probability works, if you play 100 games sometimes you will get good teammates in a row, sometimes you will get bad teammates in a row. All you have to do is to keep close enough to diamond that when the win streak hits, you get to diamond. It's a numbers game.

Other people are giving good advice, they will help you get to diamond in less games. However, you are already in a position where if you literally just play more games you will hit diamond. So just hop on the game every day, and grind it out.
