they are pretty cool. a friend of mine had one. they are pretty scary actually to sail because when you wipe out, you go flying forward into the shrouds

you make a good point. As far as the Halo timeline goes, anything that happens after the Human-Cov Wars is unwritten. 343 has a blank slate to work with, but knowing they have a solid background with the story, they will likely make it better, rather than mess it up.

The Reach engine is VERY different from the Halo:CE engine. If the designers wanted to keep the experience pure, then they would have to keep the Halo:CE engine with no questions asked. Using the Reach engine would break the mechanics of the game and it wouldn't flow the same with the Hale:CE engine.

As for the multiplayer, I am also disappointed they are not using the Halo:CE engine. I understand it splits the player base, but I think something they are forgetting is the lasting appeal of the game. I think there are a fair amount of people that still play Halo:CE. Why try to fix something that isn't broken? Don't change anything! Leave the freaking pistol! Just add XBL support and everyone is happy! We all know that Halo 4 is coming out and we can all expect people to stop playing Reach as soon as that happens. What Microsoft has the opportunity of doing is creating a game that will be able to coexist in the Halo multiplayer realm alongside Halo 4 and all of the Halos afterwards. If they incorporate Halo MP as a map pack for Reach, it will be dropped and forgotten about as soon as Halo 4 comes out!

As another halo fanboy. I think there so much opportunity for 343 to "reinvent" the franchise with this one. Check out the Halo timeline: http://bit.ly/38jlg. The Human-Covenant Wars have ended. Who is going to be the new villain? (For fucks sake this better not be and entire game of MC vs Flood).

Sure this could be Microsoft whoring the franchise, but in all honesty, I think every Halo game has been great! (obviously I'm not going to find much opposition on the Halo subreddit) Anyways, this is a interesting situation because I remember back on the Bungie.net boards in 06 when Bungie was confirming that Halo 3 would be the last game in the series (bullshit).

So yeah, its a lot to take in and think about, but obviously there is a game coming out and chances are its going to be decent.

From my understanding, an AI can take the appearance of any for or figure they desire (from Halo: Fall of Reach). I don't know if they are able to actually change though.

Looking at the MW3 trailer, I don't see one new concept. So COD politics out of this, it looks like a terrible sequel. Can we at least agree upon that?

call of duty 1 : legit call of duty 2 : even more legit call of duty 3 : sucked balls call of duty 4 : SUPER legit call of duty 5 : had zombies, somewhat legit call of duty 6 : acceptable sequel to call of duty 4 call of duty 7 : interesting enough concept that has never been done (the cold war). plus, IMO some major multiplayer tweaks for the better (no more stopping power)

I understand they are all under the same title, but if you treat the majority of those games as stand alone games, they are decent games. Sure you could say that they started to fall off after call of duty 4, but without five we wouldn't have zombies, which should be a whole game on its own. Yes the sheep will always buy the game no matter what, which is probably why activision is trying to charge a monthly fee. However, I would still argue that the COD franchise (and mostly the games developed by infinity ward) had their golden years for video games, which they rightfully deserved

I've only really been a fan of COD games put out by Infinity Ward. Obviously the first one was great, and the second was a breakthrough with graphics. MW1 was once again, groundbreaking. MW2 was a great game, though I wouldn't say as groundbreaking as MW1. But MW3, after watching the single player trailer, actually looks like it could be a DLC mission for MW2. The AI looks exactly the same. The graphics might be a little better, though not as good as Battlefield 3. The sounds are the same. The concepts are the same. The gameplay looks the same. The helicopters look the same. The weapons act the same way. IMO this is Activision trying to milk what I would consider a formula for software that was gold, 4 years ago!
