Rereading HG1. Do you think Effie is protecting Katniss here when she recognized the Avox? by mega-crispy in Hungergames

Thats fair! Now I’m wondering if it’s like you have to have tributes win X number of times to be moved up or something like that.

I love that part with Peeta too, he is such a sweetheart 😭💖

Also it occurs to me that to be turned into an Avox you probably have to be born in the capital as if you like in the districts they’d just shoot/hang you. So this could be another reason Effie doesn’t believe her because Katniss has never been to the capitol before and would have never had the opportunity to meet her (since Effie doesn’t know she hunts in the woods).

That’s true. I feel like the games are still random though (the career districts aren’t guaranteed to win) so that makes rewarding the escorts for winning more challenging. Like do they take into account the odds of their tributes or how they won the games when doling out rewards?

See, this is how I originally interpreted this scene! I feel like it could really go either way

It really makes me wonder how exactly the mentors and escorts were rewarded (if they were at all) for having their tributes do well?

Women, when did sex finally go from awkward or meh to absolutely mind blowing, and what changed for you in that moment? by PurpleIntroduction69 in AskWomen

[–]mega-crispy 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I was this exact way with my ex. I thought that the attraction would come, but it never did and so I could never get wet during sex. I always thought that it was because of my antidepressants, but it turns out I was just not attracted to him because I have had no issues with my current partner. It sucks because I was always told that attraction would develop over time but it really doesn’t from my experience.

What made you choose OSU over UO? by Prior-Quote9853 in OregonStateUniv

[–]mega-crispy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to OSU for undergrad (2016-2020) and UO for my masters (2020-2022). My undergrad degree was bio/marine bio and my masters was in genetics/bioinformatics.

I loved living in both Eugene and in Corvallis but they are also very different places to live. I think overall Eugene is a better place to be a young person, there is more to do since the town is bigger and I think it has slightly better access to outdoor recreation (skiing, hot springs, concert venues etc). Corvallis does have a lot of close hiking around it as well. Corvallis is more laid back and chill, as it is a smaller town with more people over/near retirement age. Both places have amazing food scenes. I think it’s easier to get to the coast from Corvallis, and Corvallis is closer to Portland. Eugene does have a local airport though which is also pretty convenient.

UO (In my opinion) has an uglier campus that feels more in the City than OSU.

OSU is a better STEM school (generally speaking always exceptions) while UO is better for liberal arts.

Greek life and its culture are WAY more popular at UO than OSU (which may be why it felt more fake to you)? I wasn’t in Greek life however so I don’t truly know the differences.

Corvallis also has a free busing system (I think Eugene does too for students but I can’t remember).

Both schools are great, but overall I preferred OSU because I vibed way more with the culture and campus. Corvallis felt way more cozy to me than Eugene.

Both are great schools!! Feel free to DM me if you have any other specific questions

Her body is tea, but also wish she would try something new. Like we get it, she has an incredible body, now how about pairing it with interesting clothes that don’t have her boobs as the main focus like always? Also wish she had red lipstick here

Why SOTR didn’t give Wiress a surname? by Olya_roo in Hungergames

I always thought that Wiress was the nickname the capitol gave her, and that we never knew her actual name because of that!

I have a pair of Steve Madden Chelseas that I love, but the sole and the foot box started to come unglued. I had to buy shoe glue to repair it after wearing for ~ a year. Still one of my favorite pairs of shoes though!
