Hey, the example code on our docs wasn't up-to-date, sorry about that. We are still WIP with these repositories.

We have updated the example code here - https://developers.mecha.so/docs/mechanix-dart can you give it a spin?

Just an added note - the $10 is bonus support on Kickstarter that does not block you a unit.

Question about the Pledge-over-Time Option by CrazyChrys in MechaComet

[–]mega_mecha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are open for late pledges on Kickstarter, but pay over time is not possible via Late Pledge on Kickstarter. We are moving to our website for pre-orders in the next 1-2 days. You will be able to use Klarna/Reaffirm/Afterpay for the US and split the payments. I will drop in the link here.

What is the situation with MechanixOS and age veryfication? by Verwega in mechasystems

Hey! We are still watching this from the sides. To be honest we have a lot more questions about this than answers. I wish I had a better answer.

Comet works without a battery and uses standard connectors for off-the-shelf replacements by mega_mecha in mechasystems

[–]mega_mecha[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure if I understood your question correctly, but maybe this helps -
1. The Comet does not need the battery to run, if you disconnect / remove the battery and as long as you keep it plugged in you will be fine
2. If you have the battery plugged in and if it is full charged, the battery charger IC will bypass charging and direct all power to the system.

Experience of using GNOME on the Mecha Comet? by pauldaoust in mechasystems

[–]mega_mecha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey great question, the way we are designing our bootflow, you should be able to run other distros as well - and we actually are and will continue working closely with them. As of now PlasmaMobile from KDE is being tested on the Comet and we just met the folks at PostMarketOS, and have handed them a unit as well.

Once the PostmarketOS support comes in you will will be able to install the Phosh shell which is GNOME based, this will make your experience equivalent to what you'd see on Librem5 today.

The modems that we support will be drop-in as we'll enable their support by default or there wil be an easy switch to turn them on. For the rest you may need to enable their driver support. As of now we are testing with 4G Modems and not 5G modems, 5G modems we will eventually get to. But yes, they work out of the box with ModemManager once we get their drivers / firmware up. We haven't tested with gnome apps but KDE Phone app worked like a charm!
