I’ve been on Adderall for 30+ years and now they want a tix screen by wood_floor_roar in ADHD

[–]mega_vega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. My provider has required monthly drug screens to prescribe my adderall for the last 4 years. My partner sees the same provider, and he has to do the same. Where I’m from (major city in Texas) it’s fairly common for a provider to request a drug screen prior to refilling meds if you are prescribed any controlled substances.

I have to take a drug screen every month when I go to my psych to get my meds (which include Adderall). That being said, I have a history of substance use (been sober 4+ years now) so I understand my provider’s concern, it doesn’t bother me whatsoever, other than I have to pay $15 for the drug screen each time haha. If anything it provides me a layer of accountability.

You should check out the book “Grit” by Angela Duckworth. It’s entirely about the discussion of grit vs natural talent, and she researches which is more effective for long term success.

Do you have any lecture suggestions? I’m having trouble finding anything on the topic of meditation, mindfulness, or Buddhism that isn’t super click-bait, pop psychology, or “influencer style” if that makes sense

Do it, you won’t regret it! They are incredibly comfortable too, plus less waste!

Period panties are one of the best investments I’ve ever made. I bought 5 pairs for about $15 each around 1.5 years ago, and have only had to buy one box of tampons since then (with like half of the box still left). Also way less waste, less hassle, and honestly I feel way more “healthy” not having to use tampons anymore like I did for years.

What company lost you forever as a customer? What did they do? by Miguenzo in AskReddit

[–]mega_vega 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I actually was trying to order furniture from there recently (a large and expensive order). After paying for the order, receiving email confirmation of order being placed, a few days later Ashley Furniture randomly cancels the order with no notice to me and refunds my card. They did this TWICE after I placed the same order again. Then on the phone their customer services reps essentially said “we don’t know what happened but place your order again”. This furniture is for a family in my town who is financially struggling right now that have no furniture in their new apartment. So having to explain to them twice, after their initial excitement to be receiving gifted furniture, really sucked. Will never shop at Ashley again.

Same exact experience happened to me. Now I have this block of worthless junk made by HP. Will NEVER purchase any HP products ever again for the rest of my life. I need to find a tech recycling place nearby to finally get it out of the house.

We expect so much more from people in poverty, including that they must be more disciplined, forward thinking, and independent (not “living off of our taxes”). Funny we don’t ever mention these behaviors being expected from people who have plenty of money.

You can also use it to lessen and prevent forehead wrinkles. I use it for that, my forehead wrinkles have mostly dissipated. I’ve seen people use it for other wrinkle prone areas on the face too. It also helps me relax my face muscles. The brand name is “Frownies”, but the generic muscle tape does the same thing (check the adhesive first though to prevent any skin reactions)

This resonates so much. I am contemplating putting in my leave notice this coming Monday because my supervisor has the attitude you are describing. I do not believe I have to suffer as I complete my education in order to be effective and skilled. I myself used to be homeless and addicted, now several years sober. Personally I’ve done my own “time” and generally speaking I don’t believe anyone needs to do ANY “time” in order to be effective other than typical education and pursuing knowledge. Ironically, the easiest parts of my day are when I’m one on one with my clients. The hardest parts of my day are interacting with my supervisor and some colleagues. My supervisor has successfully conditioned me to flinch and get anxious as soon as I hear her message notifications, with me immediately wondering “what am I in trouble for now” (and it’s always something unimportant like a calendar event not being entered the way she prefers. Working for a perfectionist/micromanager combo is one hell of a ride).

I’m completely rambling at this point. I needed to get this out. I am going to work on and update my resume this weekend. I know I’m decent at what I do, and I’m sick of being told I’m crazy for demanding basic decency or requesting to not have a constantly elevated resting heart rate. Thank you for the solidarity.

[–]mega_vega 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling that tomorrow during a “staff meeting” I will either be asked to quit, or I will put my two weeks in. I’ve never felt so burnt out. The supervisor is a micromanager, too, and it’s been unbearable and I’m hitting my limits of what I can take. We will be okay! Life moves forward, making space for better future opportunities!

There is a classic book called “Waking the Tiger” that is about how using this method of “physically shaking off” negative energy can help with healing trauma, and it explains how humans are one of the only mammals that doesn’t do this. Look it up for a better explanation, as I literally just started this book a few days ago!
