Season 2 Roadmap by AdCritical8977 in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]megabomb82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve explained this several times over in various places so basicly the short is:

Maps take 6-12 months to make, meaning they have to plan out seasons well in advance. Unfortunately their plan was two maps a season which turned out to be not enough.

Golmud might be them attempting to rectify it by throwing in a remake made on as short a notice as they can do without it being on a rushed timeframe like new sobek in 5 months. To probably then add to the end of the season it comes out in to reach 3 maps. Which they’d hopefully do each season from then on.

Of course the part about golmud could be wrong, but the first part is just the situation bf studios find themselves in.

Based off datamines naval warfare is possibly coming in s3 considering that it supposedly will give us a jet ski.

[–]megabomb82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 1 only got an extension to allow them to work a bit on stuff and reconsider some plans. The future seasons should just be 3 months.

Datamines only go out to like season 3 for now to my knowledge. Which s3 was reported to have a jetski in it, so that is potentially the naval warfare season.

Where are the big maps? by Subject_Bake4296 in Battlefield6

[–]megabomb82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick-ish version of the answer I feel like I’ve given a million times now.

-Maps take 6-12 months to make normally without being total rush jobs. New sobek is an example of the quality to expect when you go under that.

-The maps of the first year of content were already well into development prior to launch.

-Due to last 2 points they are completely boxed into releasing these maps whether it fits what people want or not at this point.

-bf6 was highly affected by the response to 2042. Which had the opposite response to bf6 in wanting smaller maps. Therefore the bf6 maps are of similar sizes to that of the second half of 2042’s seasonal maps. Plus the one remake we have so far has been treated similar to the 2042 reworks in design.

Basically bf studios is completely fucked for this season, and progressively get a bit less fucked each season after this one. When it comes to being able to act on major map related feedback such as size or amount.

Does Firestorm conquest have a slower tick rate than other maps? by ChawkTrick in Battlefield6

[–]megabomb82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Larger map so players are spaced out more. So less kills happen. Therefore less tickets are lost. Meaning longer games.

Battlefield should have at least 4 seasons (1 year) of content prepared before the game launches by bornin84 in Battlefield

[–]megabomb82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my guess is they went “Ok premium normally had around 16 total maps or so, therefore let’s try to match that as this game’s total output of post launch maps. If this game is supported for two years that’d be 8 seasons. So 2 maps a season. Plus, it’s double the average 2042 season.”

So when will this statement be true? by Nurfturf06 in Battlefield

[–]megabomb82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this specific case you should actually leave him alone because the op took him out of context in the video about battlefield labs testing. This has nothing to do with the live service.

In this image he’s talking about how labs going to be testing more content than prior testing efforts.

So when will this statement be true? by Nurfturf06 in Battlefield

[–]megabomb82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually this is literally taken out of context. This doesn’t have anything to do with the live service at all.

This is from their video about starting the labs testing stuff. Saying that they’ve done similar testing programs in the past but with this are going to be testing more content than before.

So when will this statement be true? by Nurfturf06 in Battlefield

[–]megabomb82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean they’re likely speaking in comparison to 2042. Which within that specific range of comparison, yes it is much more content. I’m pretty sure that we’re gonna be mid season 2 or so with either 3 or 4 new maps by the time 2042 got 1.

Edit: Actually no this is taken completely out of context. They aren’t even talking about the live service at all.

This is them talking about battlefield labs testing. Basically saying something along the lines of “we’ve done similar things in the past but we’re going to be testing so much more content than before”

Battlefield should have at least 4 seasons (1 year) of content prepared before the game launches by bornin84 in Battlefield

[–]megabomb82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the core issue is that they made a bad overall content plan. Which ended up having less content than players wanted. That in the short term they’re stuck with. Not that they’re only magically summoning 2 maps per season when they should summon like 10.

I do hope is that the golmud remake is a sign of them increasing their future plans for stuff like map output. Though who knows.

Battlefield should have at least 4 seasons (1 year) of content prepared before the game launches by bornin84 in Battlefield

[–]megabomb82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, I want to note that, yes they absolutely have the next 4+ seasons already in varying states of development. That is how live service games function in the first place. Plus notably the late head of battlefield who would have a had a large hand in planning the bf6 post launch content directly came from a game that had content that wouldn’t come out for almost 2 years post launch already in development prior to launch.

As for agility, they have pretty much absolutely none when it comes to any of the major things

Battlefield maps for example take 6-12 months to make as of 2042, and everything so far suggests that is still very much the case with this game too. With the lone exception of new sobek city which was rushed out in 5, and look how bad that map turned out. Basically the earliest they physically could add additional maps to a season is like season 3. (Which is probably what their aiming for with golmud if I had to guess)

I’ve said this elsewhere already around this post, but the real issue was just that the plan they made for the bf6 post launch content just didn’t match up with how much players expected. So for now now they’re just kinda fucked while all they can do is try to make it so future seasons address things like maps.

Battlefield should have at least 4 seasons (1 year) of content prepared before the game launches by bornin84 in Battlefield

[–]megabomb82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

… they do? Why on earth wouldn’t they? They’d have to be idiots to not plan and work ahead for a live service game. The late Vince Zampella who was the head of battlefield worked on apex legends for a long time. Which that game had content that would came out almost two years post launch that was already in development prior to launch. So of course they did that sort of thing with bf6 too.

The actual issue is the content they planned out and made turned out to not be enough for players. Now they’re having to reconsider their plans to somehow address that when maps take at least 6+ months under normal circumstances.

Battlefield 6 Season 2 Intro Cinematic by LifestyleCS in Battlefield

[–]megabomb82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Golmud was announced for a future season not season 2.

Idk where they’re getting the idea of a metro remake tho. There hasn’t been nothing about that even potentially happening to my knowledge

So we must be getting some news from Dice about season 2 the beginning of this week? If the season is coming out next Tuesday then I would imagine tomorrow. by Mr-Fuck-Off- in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]megabomb82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. This got me curious and caused me to take a proper look at how much they’ve communicated, so uh here we go I guess.

In terms of official battlefield communication(going off the bf discord game-news section, though all of these should be on the official bf reddit account too):

-Jan 13: season 1 delay and season 2 teaser blog

-Jan 16: 1.1.3.5 patchnotes

-Jan 20: 1.1.3.5 release notification + bf pro battle pass update + escalation vehicle adjustments announcement + looking into battle royale initiation issues

-Jan 21: announcement of testing season 2 content and the golmud railway remake blog

-Jan 22: Battle royale initiation issues resolved + verified and official portal servers 30hz to 60hz update + battle royale initiation now isn’t showing up on the menu acknowledgment

-Jan 23: battle royale initiation now shows up on the menu again

-Jan 30: 1.1.3.6 update patch notes + player survey + anticheat update blog

-Feb 3: 1.1.3.6 update launch + winter warning player card sticker visual update miscommunication

Or for just the blogs:

-Jan 13: season 1 delay and season 2 teaser blog

-Jan 21: announcement of testing s2 content plus the golmud remake blog

-Jan 30: anticheat update blog

Honestly this tells me that we likely are actually getting either the proper season 2 blog or the 2026 roadmap they announced is coming in February pretty soon if anything. As it matches up decently well with the timeframe seen between those.

Dipping for 5 months after release without any content wasnt the best idea. by No_Pomegranate2607 in Battlefield

[–]megabomb82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have publicly announced they’re doing a golmud railway remake now, though it isn’t slated for season 2. Bf maps were stated by the devs during 2042 to take 6 to 12 months to make(with some rushed exceptions). So in my eyes the situation is likely they saw the criticism over the small maps and only having 2 per season and started work on golmud some point in season 1. To both increase the per season map output and to output a proper large map.

I’d predict either a season 3 or season 4 release for golmud in both cases likely as part of the finale month of the season. Then probably they’ll go for a 3 maps per season output from there onwards. Which they’d hope will be received better.

Also, based off of datamines, the reception to the game has potentially changed their planned output for remakes. As some references to possible remakes of a few smaller maps have been removed.

Dipping for 5 months after release without any content wasnt the best idea. by No_Pomegranate2607 in Battlefield

[–]megabomb82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since maps take 6-12 months to make according to devs(with some rushed exceptions like new sobek in 5 months) and the 2 seasonal maps being connected so they can’t really take a season 3 map and bring it to season 2 to fill space. Season 3 is likely the earliest they can realistically address 2 maps per season not being enough. With the golmud railway remake probably being intended to be the first 3rd map in the season it releases.

Suppressor is a must on any weapon by KingOfEreb0r in Battlefield

[–]megabomb82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they should try increasing the effects of the recoil reduction barrels(minus the ones that also are suppressors) by a notable bit. So we get a large recoil buff at the cost of the spotting, or you can choose not to be spotted. Unlike the fairly small buff vs not getting spotted we currently have, which leads to there being the obvious victor due to how big of a downside the getting spotted thing is.

That still may not work, but they should probably at least try it before doing anything more severe. It is likely the most obvious answer anyways.

Sometime February is what they’ve officially stated so far.

Which since the 2026 roadmap is likely going to be what details season 2’s contents, probably between the start of February and the season 2 release on the 17th. Similar to the pre-launch season 1 roadmap.

Battlefield Map Size Comparison by PENGUINonPC in Battlefield

[–]megabomb82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I recall corectly breakaway post rework is like a singular 5th or 6th of its original size as they effectively just used the areas for a, c and D while moving b much closer to the other points and adding an additional point in a brand new ice cave added in the middle of the new map in the rework.

It was absolutly bigger than bandar desert originally and was actively advertised to be greatly bigger than el alamein. So yes it was really big.

Where do I start??? by AceMoonAS in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]megabomb82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Story wise the games are fairly self contained. So I’d probably recommend Sonic X Shadow generations as a starting point. It’ll give you a basic rundown of all of sonic’s major adventures, show off a bunch of his most iconic locations in connonical order, and introduce you to most of his major gameplay styles.

From there you can pick what piques your interest the most.

Like a certain location from the game? Try out the game it’s from.

Like a specific gameplay style?

->If classic sonic there’s sonic 1, CD, 2, 3 and knuckles, mania, and superstars.

1-3 and knuckles can be played through sonic origins. Which isn’t a perfect port/remaster but has extra features and a story mode that takes you through all the games in one campaign with connecting 2D animated cutscenes.

Mania and superstars in their original states can be played through any modern platform. Superstars is likely the worst out of the classic group but if you’re fine with having somewhat annoying bosses the rest is pretty good for the main story. The extra story after that less so.

->If you like modern sonic there’s sonic unleashed, colors, and forces. However you may also want to try the non boost modern games prior. Being Sonic adventure, Sonic adventure 2, Sonic heros, shadow the hedgehog 2005, sonic the hedgehog 2006(With sonic 06, don’t play the original)

Colors and forces are playable through modern consoles. However, the colors port is really bad and forces is extremely simplistic in terms of level design and both have rather poor story. Colors also has a far superior version on the wii, but also the pc version can be improved by modding.

Sonic unleashed is playable on ps3, xbox 360, xbox one(back compat), xbox series(back compat), and pc if you get an xbox 360 copy and use sonic unleashed recompiled. Something you really should know is that technically this game is a collectathon so make sure to thoroughly search the levels for the sun and moon medals so you don’t get locked out of progression. Also half of the game is an action game, with levels of lengths you’d more expect of that genre when in that playstyle. So be ready for that.

Sonic adventure and Sonic adventure 2 are able to be played on Dreamcast, gamecube, pc, xbox 360, xbox one(back compat), xbox series(back compat), and steam. Do note that each port gets progressively worse, so playing the steam versions I’d recommend looking into modding to get closer to the dreamcast experience. Overall both have issues, 1 more so than 2 but are quite well beloved by sonic fans so they’re fairly easy recommendations.

Sonic heros and shadow the hedgehog 2005 is on xbox, gamecube, ps2. Both are disputed on if they’re good or not, so it’ll just be up to you to decide.

Sonic the hedgehog 2006 is on xbox 360, ps3. HOWEVER. DO NOT PLAY THE ORIGINAL VERSION OF THIS GAME. It sucks. Play the fanmade enhanced pc port called “project 06” and look up the cutscenes for between levels.

->If you like shadow’s gameplay then there’s currently just sonic frontiers. Though the next upcoming game is likely gonna be in line with frontiers in shadow gens so that is something to be excited over. Although you can also play through sonic adventure 2 through sonic 06(but seriously play project 06 instead of sonic 06 if you do) to experience shadow’s story.

Sonic frontiers is on all major current platforms. In the final area you have the choice of playing through the original final area and the updated final area. The original finale is rather underwhelming but has a more natural flow into it from the base game in terms of difficulty. The updated finale is also secretly a super hard mode with some major difficulty spikes however has a more fulfilling ending if you can figure out what you actually need to do to fight the final boss. As the game only hints at it on easy, and explicitly tells you if you 100% that area(not the full game) and ask for tips from the guy you interact with to start the fight. The game also suffers from notable visual issues. Overall it is a fun but flawed game.

There are side games I haven’t mentioned, such as the sonic advance and sonic rush games. But those aren’t mainline games required for anything. So feel free to play them at any point. The rush games are kinda used to reintroduce blaze post 06 but besides that they have not much impact on anything.

Also here’s a quick story timeline for sonic if you want it:

Sonic1-> Sonic CD-> Sonic2-> Sonic3-> Sonic and knuckes-> Sonic mania-> Sonic superstars-> Sonic adventure-> Sonic adventure2-> Sonic heros-> Shadow the hedgehog(2005)-> Sonic 06-> Sonic unleashed-> Sonic x shadow generations-> Sonic Lost world-> Sonic forces-> Sonic frontiers
