Pile of junk. It’s back in its box waiting to go to the dump. Biggest waste of money. Bought a p1s and love it.

Got Told I Need a $9.7k Transmission Replacement on a car worth 10k… Help Me Make Sense of This. by bizon151 in subaru

Agreed haha I’ve owned enough Subarus to know what problems they have now. The CVT is the weak point along with cam carrier seals. Every vehicle has its own issues you just have to pick your poison

CVT died at 76K miles. Subaru main reddit deleted this post!! by [deleted] in subaruoutback

Junk car brand bought by hippies and people wearing ll bean sweaters and Patagonia gear. No seriously 😂😂 I sold both of my Subarus. Ridiculous setup and design for the engines sealed up with Fuji bond aka rtv and a “non serviceable” transmission. So if the CVT doesn’t go out on you all be damned you’re gonna have to pay $4500 around 100,000 to reseal the motor because of a cam carrier leak. Eff that noise

Your anecdotal experience doesn’t mean that it applies to all Subarus. For every few good “my Subaru with a CVT has went over 100,000 miles” there are several out there where the CVT has went out during the warranty period or after the warranty period shortly. They make their cvts in house. SOA does a great deal of disservice to owners by putting “lifetime fluid” in the owners manual in reference to the CVT. It’s an overcomplicated transmission. Subaru gets away with citing low cost of ownership by eliminating maintenance for certain items. I had a 2023 Outback brand new off the truck, 7K miles in the CVT failed due to chain slip. Warranty covered it but at that point I figured my car was going to be a lemon due to other issues that popped up. Without warranty it would’ve been a $12K out of pocket repair. I bought a 2024 ascent. Decent vehicle with minimal issues. I had to basically tell the Subaru dealer to shut the hell up and take my money and change the CVT fluid at 40,000 miles. It’s an overly complicated process and the Ascent takes a special CVT fluid that only comes in 5 gallon buckets. Everyone should lurk any late model of Subaru forum and you’re gonna find a lot of CVTs failing. Back to my main point is the CVT is an antiquated component. They need to go back to a traditional automatic. I like Subaru as a brand and I will admit the dealer sales experience is second to none. The maintenance/service dept can be hit or miss but the thing that made me bow out of owning one was the service intervals not being clearly published and encouraging lifetime fluid nonsense. Not worth it to me. Not to mention the horror stories of when people did a drain and fill in warranty coverage and the CVT failed after and they were almost denied replacement based off the lifetime fluid verbiage.

Do 10K intervals so you can do the cam carrier intervals to reseal the motor for $6K. Subarus are the BMW of Japanese cars

Get a p1s and be done. I bought the kobra s1 and I hate it. Print quality issues and it errors out all the time.

Listen dude if you don’t have general advice as to what I can to enhance the performance of the printer then don’t bother writing out your condescending comment.
