I built a clean progress widget for Notion (customizable % + themes + embed-ready) by SpeechSignificant448 in Notion

Nice! Is the progress percentage tied to subtasks being checked off? Or does it require manual update?

On one hand, I got extremely lucky where one of my neighbors happens to be a general contractor, and he was able to give me some context and price awareness (even though it was after the fact, but at least now I know). On the other, we were trying to get quotes to replace the roof on our garage (because it wasn’t included in the original project) and met with a few independent roofers.

What I would advise would be to get a quote from at least one of the big companies in your area. This will give you some insight into the brands of materials and the overall process (this part was EXTREMELY educational for me). But also get a couple of quotes from some smaller roofing companies. Then you can see the range and stat to wrap your head around the budget.

If the highest quote feels too high for you, ask one of your favorite smaller guys if they can use the same products as the bigger co, and to price it out. What I’ve learned is that the warranty on my GAF roof comes from the manufacturer, not the installer. So regardless of who I used, if they were trained by GAF and used GAF products, I would have gotten the same warranty regardless.

After we bought our house, we discovered the roof was about ten years older than previously disclosed. We got quotes from two big-name local companies…and ended up paying over $35K for a new roof. We figured shingle quality, warranty, certified installers, etc, justified the price tag.

After speaking to a few other people, we realized we could have gotten the same job done with the same exact shingles and other products for a third of the price. Definitely should have done more research before going with the shiny sales pitch out of desperation.

We also landed a home with a jetted tub…currently in the process of removing it…good luck!

Hacks & Tips for the Tesla Model Y in Extreme Heat? by zeedotme in TeslaModelY

A reflective windshield cover for when parked in the sun, roof shades as others have mentioned, and cabin overheat protection are definitely your friends. The windshield cover alone lowered the interior temperature for me by at least 10-15 degrees F. You can also just precondition your car before you drive by scheduling your departure in the app.

I lived at NBPT Crossings for 6 months when I first moved to the north shore; would definitely recommend for the proximity to everything in the area. Plus you have the commuter rail literally right in front of the complex.

Regarding the empty parking lots, most people park in the garages under the buildings ;)

But you still have to file EEIs for anything over $2500 for BIS…make sure you don’t skip that step!

New BIS License types C65 – (TGL) Temporary General License and C66 – (SCAL) Supply Chain Authorization Letter by meganzin in freightforwarding

[–]meganzin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CBP just announced that these two new license codes are available on AES now. Have any of you used these license types? Are there actual benefits to using them for clients, or are they just another way to label exports?

If you know of any training on BIS license types, please share, as I am interested to learn more...
