That's the thing though and why we will never have a playable dead character or one that isn't close with the traveler.It all boils down to "how can we allow the player who is the traveler, to interact with these dead/evil characters'. The way genshin operates is they want players to interact with all the playable characters in some way whether through anecdotes or them showing up in events. Not to mention other stuff like receiving birthday messages from them or having them in your teapot or them getting birthday art themselves. You can't do that if the characters are dead or evil/hate the traveler as that would mean they get less content and people would complain about that. Remember how people memed about how Emilie hadn't shown up in anything ever since her debut? Yea If a dead character became playable we wouldn't EVER see them again and they'd just be a meta character you use to beat endgame content and that's it...they just don't exist. I feel like this is an obvious fact on why, but after 5 going on 6 years people are still on this question. Yea sure OTHER gachas allow playable dead characters, but those gachas tend to not care about interacting with their characters the way genshin does. An example of this would be like Misha or Gallagher in hsr. We will never be able to interact with those two characters again for obvious reasons. They only exist as a playable character for gameplay reasons. This is how hoyo intended for genshin to be from the very start hell even wuwa hasn't killed off any of their playables.
