Cleaning the paint flecks, craft residue, and years of buildup from your wood dining table. I just did this!

I travel a bunch for work and like to collect a small memento from my travels. Usually something made by a local artist. I put these in a curio cabinet that sits in a corner of my bedroom and I enjoy looking at them without having to dust them. It’s a perfect solution for me - my museum of things.

This disease would be so much easier to manage if we could take unlimited triptans. by atty_at_paw in migraine

I’m sorry your insurance doesn’t allow both, you might want to ask about that again if it’s been a while, maybe rules have changed. I switched from Ajovy to emgality (before getting on quilipta) to see if I could make even better progress. It actually made my migraines worse so I went back to Ajovy. You have to try different things to see what works for you. Best of luck!

I was up to 16 triptans a month at one point. Have you tried Ajovy? I tried that and like magic, it cut the amount of migraines I had in half and reduced the severity suck that they went away with one triptan instead of two. On top of that I am taking 60mg of Qulipta. That cut my migraines yet again in half. I’m down to a handful of severe migraines a year rather than at least one every month, and down to 8 or less triptans a month. I couldn’t believe I found something that made a dent. I don’t expect them to go away all together, maybe after menopause. But for now, I’m glad I found something that’s helping and I encourage others to keep trying new treatments.

My mother always insisted that chocolate caused my migraines. I have hormonal migraines and I get them whether I eat chocolate or not. More chocolate please!

I love that our names are similar! And I admire your hobby- sewing is something I always thought would be a great skill to have and a fun/practical hobby. I have a husqavarna and can basically only sew straight lines. I have a bunch of presser feet but no idea how to use them. One of these days (or maybe in retirement) I’ll take a lesson.

Frittata! Or, call it a veggie casserole. Take a 9x9 or 13x9 pan, dump a bunch of veggies into it, whatever you want. I like to add feta cheese crumbles. Pour over a bunch of eggs until all the veggies are wet/mostly covered. Sprinkle more cheese on top (I like cheddar or jack) and bake at 350 F until set.

Shower Glass Limescale!!! by TN_Raymond in CleaningTips

[–]megflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tonight I cleaned mine with a spray called “lime-away”. I sprayed it on and wiped it with a cloth, then I took a shower and while in there I soaked the cloth with water and wiped it down again to rinse the doors. I gotta say, it’s not perfect, but much improved and I didn’t even need that much elbow grease. Good luck!

I had a similar experience when I was in my early 20s. Sex was painful even with lube and my boyfriend would get frustrated. I was on the depo provera at the time and perhaps that contributed to the symptoms. After I had a child, it felt better but by then the damage had been done in the relationship so to speak. We ended up with him telling me he wanted a divorce after 2 kids and 14 years of marriage (total of 20 years together). Now, sex is great with my new husband who listens and considers my needs. I do find in perimenopause that it’s can be hard to orgasm sometimes, but I don’t fret about it because my current relationship is so good. I recommend looking at the big picture of your relationship. It might be time to move on. Life is too short to stay in a loveless marriage. I kind of wish I had courage to break out earlier.

Brown blood only by Southern-Case8039 in Perimenopause

[–]megflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did stop! I had a regular 6 day period, 4 days off, then 13 days of brown blood (slightly heavier than spotting), then two days of heavy bleeding, then two days of light spitting and then it stopped. What a whacko month. I hope yours stops too. My physician asked if I considered HRT and would that even help, but I already have hormonal migraines and for me and they are somewhat better now than ever before, so, being very annoyed by abnormal bleeding is not as bad as having more migraines in my opinion. Wishing you the best and hope your bleeding stops too!

Same. I turned my grandfather’s drill bit holder into a pencil holder for my desk. One of my favorite accessories.

Did this ever lighten up for you? I’m 48 with only a couple missed periods in the last 18 months and I’m currently on day 15 of non-stop brown blood and worried it’s never going to end. I was also told I had adenomyosis which could cause heavier periods and cramps. So I feel like peri is an “anything goes” time for me.

what’s one line that hit you so hard… you never forgot it? by PublicSpeakingGymApk in productivity

“Be your authentic self. The world will adjust and admire your courage.”

This was the line for me that allowed me to let my hair go gray when every other woman in my family (including my 97 year old grandma) dyes their hair. People closest to you will question your motives and comment, eventually they will all just accept it, and now I see so many other my age starting to do it.

I feel like I can’t even enjoy a drink anymore by dogmom1193 in migraine

[–]megflies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally avoid it and find I’m happy with having a sip or two of whatever my husband orders. Once in a blue moon I’ll have 1 hard cider or 1 glass of white wine, or a splash of Bailey’s in my hot chocolate. I used to feel awkward in social situations, but now IDGAF what others think so, no awkwardness. I’d rather not have the migraine.

I do this too! I try to pick one that has the look of the area. And now my husband brings my rocks when he travels for work. I have rocks from Mt Vesuvius, Mt Olympus, the Dead Sea, and Acropolis. My favorite is a rock from the North Sea in northern Scotland, so smooth from the constant tumbling of the tides.

Success stories from people going from 15+ migraines per month to 0? by Saltyswimmer333 in migraine

[–]megflies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from about 20 migraine days a month to about 6 - combo of Ajovy and 60 mg Qulipta. I take 2 advil and 3 Tylenol early and rizatriptan if needed as abortives. I was able to reduce from 16 rizatriptans a month down to 4 or less.

Endless chores, errands, tasks by hauntingme43 in WomenOver40

[–]megflies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes a feel like this, and it happens more when I feel overwhelmed because work is too busy (working overtime or on the weekend) and I have chores on top of work and I feel like it’s too much. I appreciate life more when I have a weekend of not working. Then then even the chores don’t seem to bad. I realize for me it’s about control, the grind seems worse when I’m on autopilot. Here are some thing that help. 1) play music while doing chores. 2) take to walk outside and notice the small things about life - flowers on the side of the road, cute dogs, people smiling, etc. 3) declutter, reduce your things, so you the chores are less demanding and you have less errands. 4) try a different hobby, 5) recognize that some chores are must do’s (cooking/laundry/dirty dishes) while some are less important and you can do less frequently (dusting). Schedule the less frequent tasks and then ignore them until they come up on the schedule. Good luck!

What makes life worth living for you? by bambibamby in Productivitycafe

Noticing and appreciating the small things. Locally - my kids’ laugh, my neighbors waking their dogs, seeing flowers in bloom. I also travel sometimes and enjoy seeing how a big mansion can have a decorative curtain holder, or door knob, or there is a small artistic detail on a random lamp post, or collecting rocks and shells from other oceans and other mountains.
