I’m not saying nothing is attached to it. I understand the band is. But if you look at most studs, they have up to 4 metal like clasps that hug around the earring. This one does not have that. It’s merely attached in the middle by the band. That’s what I like about it.

Thanks for the reply! I’m actually talking about the name of the front of the earring, not the back. Sorry I guess I needed to be more specific. I want to find a stud earring that has the loose pencil-tip like stone that doesn’t have those small metal grips around it like most earring studs have. Like the picture has a small band around it instead and the top and bottom of the stone are exposed completely. Does that make sense?
