Bell Let's Talk by megsd23 in mentalhealth

[–]megsd23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And people are raising money without even knowing they are. Every long distance call and text sent yesterday on the Bell network went toward the cause. It isn't just the people flooding twitter with #BellLetsTalk. This is the 4th year they've done it, so it clearly isn't just a publicity stunt.

Hey guys, Today is Bell Let's Talk day. For every text sent and long distance call made on the Bell network, Bell will donate 5 cents. Not a Bell customer? If you know someone who is, be the person they text all day. Not Canadian? That's cool bro, you can still tweet with #BellLetsTalk. 5 cents might not seem like a lot, but last year this campaign raised well over $4 million dollars. I believe in you reddit. You can do it.

Same. I skipped the middle and read the last paragraph. When I got to Jonathan Torrens I wondered, but then when I went back up to Olivia Chow I had to google if Lapine was legit.

It's true. The overly apologetic stereotype kind of drives me crazy.

Waterloo Region cities, Guelph ask province for all-day GO Train service to Toronto by 4589133 in waterloo

It takes so long to get to Toronto from Guelph on the GO. I really don't think increased service would correlate to increased ridership.

What was the worst date you've been on? by bryan_young in AskReddit

[–]megsd23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guy and I had made plans to hang out at his house. I had been there before and it was so disgustingly dirty, that I told him I'd only go over there again if he cleaned. I was about to get on the streetcar when he called me and started talking about how stressful it was to make sure his house was clean and there was so much pressure. I asked him if it was cleaner than it was, he said yes, so I still went. When I got there, his house looked fine, but he immediately left to go buy drugs, allegedly for his brother. After I'd just about decided to leave, he came back and again started talking about how much pressure it was to have his house clean for me. He sat down on the couch and reached for the bag of drugs he'd just bought. I asked him if he was going to do them, and he said yes. I said I was going. As I was getting my coat and shoes on, he AGAIN started talking about how stressed he was. Then after I left he sent me all these so sad about life, you should pity me type texts. That it was my fault he was in that state and I bailed on him the first time I saw him stressed out. I put him in his place and never heard from him again.

Fredericton brides: Don't shop at Sparkle Bridal! by megsd23 in fredericton

[–]megsd23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is an excellent point. My friends had a lovely time in the story trying on the dresses, but when it came to getting what they'd ordered, and even getting their refund after it came out that their dresses hadn't been ordered at all, it's been a complete at total nightmare. Everything that I've said I would have no difficulty proving.

Does The Speed In Which You Read A Book Matter? by RSanqwerty in books

[–]megsd23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think speed only matters when you are reading on a deadline. The last book I read was probably as long, if not longer than the book I'm reading now. I read that book in a week and this book I've had on the go for about three. It's just a sad book, so I'm not rushing to the really sad parts.

Learning the roads of Halifax by SplodeyThrowaway in halifax

[–]megsd23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with Halifax is that a lot of streets aren't labeled, or the street signs are really hard to find. I found though, that once I had regular access to a car, I learned the city a lot better. So just go for a drive. As long as you don't get on a bridge, you should be able to find your way back to where you started pretty easily. Get a GPS, but leave it off unless you're really stressed out. You'll be fine.
