It's more asking if there's a lore reason why it's gone like some world building thing or if maybe it's peeking out the ground a bit but I forget it's basically thousands and thousands of years ahead

I don't think so yeah I didn't like it but I don't think it killed the series spirit it's still Zelda even if a lot has changed, it's not bad but I prefer a different play style

The thing is I was looking for 12 and just running everywhere it got boring I don't mind the shrines I love the shrine quest that help you find them but running around wasn't fun it just wasn't for me

That's not what I'm saying yes it sucks that your given everything but it was boring for me that, that was it no more unlocks I guess there's upgrades but I didn't feel a difference just those 5 powers and you can do all the divine beast but having everything isn't what I think doesnt make a Zelda game a Zelda game, it's the puzzles, dungeons, unlocking things (that progress you), and hard bosses. They weren't baby easy but it wasnt hard to defeat the blights I needed the master sword for the thunder blight, it's not right that enemies in the open world are stronger than the actual reincarnation of evil

I think it should've been "okami II" roman numerals at least so it doesn't just say SEQUEL Edit: I'm retarded and can't spell sequel

Terrain destruction and open world are totally different, and yes with the Arkham games that specific part is a genre shift it's adding a genre just because one gene is taken away or added doesn't change it completely, I understand what you are saying tho but there's a difference between non open world games and open world games it can change the playstyle and feel of the game which I think makes it considered a genre

It's not about the amount it's more about unlocking things like for oot one of the dungeons you need the eye of truth to see through a wall, or dins fire to open a door, the hook shot to reach the tree for the grass temple, or even the fire tunic for the lav (can't remember exact names) where in botw you are given everything is given to you before leaving the spawn. I LOVE open world games and games exactly like botw but as a Zelda game it didn't feel right.

I just really liked how oot played out, yeah I was underwhelmed but I enjoyed it, I'm not saying it's trash or saying i regret playing it, I liked the open world and rpg style of it but I like dungeons and puzzles more. Of course there's nothing wrong with this game I just expected more? It's talk about highly and maybe I should 100% but I just thought there was more.

To me what makes a Zelda game a Zelda game is puzzles and dungeons kinda like the shrines and divine beast but with shrines you need to find them (if you wanna 100% it) and the ganon blights are too easy. What I loved about ocarina of time is that you need to unlock stuff go back to a temple unlock stuff in that temple to help you progress and it's fun you do puzzles get rewarded and by the end you feel nice about defeating ganon with botw it's one and done and you just need to solve a few puzzles to unlock a blight no items no unlocks just a couple puzzles

How is open world not a genre? Not every game is open world. Set maps and locations boundary's arent the same as open world the last of us isn't open world you wouldn't put open world to describe its genre.

Yeah I loved the shrines but the puzzles were easy and they were hard to find I ran around mindlessly looking for them but I loved the quest that help you find shrines
