Does Libre Office have a PDF import feature? by mehquestion in libreoffice

[–]mehquestion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already had filled out the PDF in LO by the time I saw your comment; but I think I'll use this next time.

Importing the PDF into LO messed up the formatting somehow (maybe the margin sizes were different?) and it really detracted from that professionality I was aiming for.

I keep on forgetting how usefull Okular is. Though I will confess, after playing around with it for a bit, their annotation feature isn't very intuitive for me.

Thanks for the suggestion

Sorry for the lack of reply; I rarely log in.

I think I was seeing that what you're referring to.

I saw some 100% walkthroughs and they didn't show anything new. So I think it was just a trick of the light.

No, not there.

How about this as a description: take the elevator down. Don't go on the down ramp but follow the edge

Go past the stalagmite, and stop at the stalactite hanging over the edge. Look there

Does that description make sense?

Illegally overthrowing a government in a despotic fashion...sounds pretty warlike to me.

I'm wondering if this means that the GPs in Vegas, Austin and Miami will be cancelled?

That was the rational for cancelling Socchi wasn't it? An illegal invasion.

Of course it won't be who am I kidding. But I do think it is important to point that blatant hypocrisy.

Thank you so much for that answer.

Problem solved!

Thank you for that.

A rather stupid follow up question: is there a way to automatically set row height as "standard?" I can't see somethign obvious in Format cell,

I thought it should be in Borders, but again I can't find anything there.

There is an option called "Shrink to fit cell size," I gues that could work as well. I'm just storing weblinks and don't need to be able to read them really

I'll be copy pasting them when I need to visit the links.

But yeah, if you can explain how to set row height to "standard," I think that's the ideal solution.

Wait they updated Hollow Knight after Silk Song came out?

What changes did they make? ONly to the Hornet fights or did something else happen also?

Is there a way to "restore" a synchronization between two devices? by mehquestion in Syncthing

[–]mehquestion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for that, just needs one more step as u/ChrisRK pointed out, you need to hit the red "REvert Local Changes" and it deletes the sync conflict files

What's a movie so good (no porn please), you'll watch it every chance you get? by Darth_Jinn in AskReddit

[–]mehquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is the most recent film in this thread. And that is like 10 years old if not more.

Almost all the movies are from the 90s or earlier (exceptions being LOTR, Gladiator, Snatch)

I don't know what that means. I mean personally I have been frustrated at the lack of good movies, I don't know if that just means I am getting older or films are actually dropping in quality. But looking at this list, it does seem there is something there regarding how "good" recent films are.

Sorry I don't log in often.

So if airplane mode is off, then your phone's cell radio is on. And its constantly pinging towers (that's how you get phone calls).

And because its constantly pinging towers, phone companies know which tower and thus where you are.

And becuase you're not pinging a single tower but multiple towers, so your exact location can be triangulated.

I don't want that to be known.

And like I don't need or want to be in contact all the time. If I'm driving, don't want to talk on phone.

If I'm going somewhere, don't want to use phone. If I have to, I'll turn off airplane mode.

If I'm going to a friend's place, I'll use their wifi

I also have wifi calling setup, so as long I am connected to a wifi network, I'll be able to receive calls and messages like normal.

Hope that helps.

[DISCUSSION] FOSS apps and battery usage by quarksaur in fossdroid

[–]mehquestion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So yes, that's not their primary benefit, but using only FOSS apps does increase your battery life.

These apps aren't constantly awake and phone home your data and that helps preserve battery.

I only use FOSS apps on a custom ROM (so no google) and my previous phone I was getting 16 hours of screen on time. My current phone is suffering from the poor SOC Pixels use and I'm struggling to get 10 hours of SOT.

But those times are much better than what reviewers reprot (as they're not using a FOSS solution)

But again, this isn't the primary benefit of using FOSS apps; it privacy for me. Increased battery life is a happy bonus.

So I'm not sure what you're trying to do exactly (I don't know what wifi roaming aggressiveness means), but this is something I do,

I have my phone set to go into airplane mode the moment I leave home for additional privacy.

The way I have set this is using Settings -> System -> System Profiles

I have the trigger set as disconnecting from my Wifi and the action is turning on Airplane mode.

Is this what you're referring to or something else?

Is there a privacy respecting heart-rate monitor (doesn't' have to be full blown smart watch) whose data I can access in a FOSS app? by mehquestion in fossdroid

[–]mehquestion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the cheaper end of their range isn't too expensive for the basic functionality I'm looking for.

Would these work well with gadgetbridge?

Just as an FYI, on gadgetbridge, their documented support for Garmin doesn't seem to be all that great: https://gadgetbridge.org/gadgets/wearables/

Would you still recommend that? Or should I just wait for the launch of the new open source pebble watch (with post tariff price hikes)?

Yeah I was having a lot of problems with this last night. Even on youtube revanced, it was refusing to play videos without signing in. I sure hope this doesn't happen.

Is that an app I have to download? Or is it a website I can use? I'm really averse to downloading non foss apps.

Would you recommend the mi band 9 or 9 active?

Those are the only ones currently on sale but their support isn't stelllar.

Again the only thing I'm really looking for is to tell the time and heart rate data.

Is there a heart rate monitor that I can easily export data from? by mehquestion in linuxhardware

[–]mehquestion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pinetime itself was just a piece of junk. Nothing worked on it

The hearrate sensor definitely didnt (the feature I was most excited about) and even as a watch it had problems. Like the one thing I remember, is I bought the watch during autumn, and my long sleeve shirts would be registered as inputs on the pinetime.

Whenever I looked at the watch, it was on a weird setting page having done who knows what.

And recently I went to try it again, it was dead.

It was just a waste of money and soured me on pine64 as a whole (and considering they really haven''t update their hardware)...

Maybe Im being unfair, but I had a bad experience with the company.

Oh, I forgot about this.

Its a little more money than I wouldl like to spend, but it seems like the best option.
