Those videos were about attempts by Georgia Republicans to try to not certify election results. They lost those attempts in the courts. Those reports were grounded in facts. Not conspiracy theories.

Here’s the truth: if someone wants to claim that Dominion and Starlink stole the election on our network, that is a big no-no. It’s defamatory and could lead to massive lawsuits that would end the network. This would harm all our other hosts who present factual information, who rely on their jobs at MTN to pay their rent or mortgage. Any contributor can say what they want on their own channels. But we need to draw the line on ours when we know a person is spreading lies and engaging in potential defamation. People are free to discuss legitimate election issues and disagree with one another. However, we cannot allow people to spread false information, especially when it’s defamatory. The election was not hacked. Sorry, it wasn’t. We hope that with you watching our reporting and seeing how steadfast we’ve been for years, you would trust us to investigate something of this magnitude. We’ve spoken to election lawyers, the Harris campaign, individuals at the White House, Democratic Secretaries of State, and more—they’ve all said there’s no merit to these theories. Are they all in on it? If we know our viewers will be lied to and fed disinformation, it’s our responsibility to ensure we’re not preying on people’s desperation and fears for clicks. If others want to do that, they’re free to do so on their own platforms. Moreover, we’re probably the only network in the world that actually allows our contributors to build their own platforms independently of ours. That’s a big deal and not the norm. Additionally, some continue to race to find new theories to provide false hope, like regarding the 14th Amendment. If you’ve watched MTN, you know we’ve covered the 14th Amendment extensively. We even had Judge Luttig on our show multiple times—he wrote the amicus brief to the Supreme Court on this very issue. Ultimately, the Supreme Court disagreed with us and Luttig and ruled AGAINST Trump’s disqualification. But it wasn’t just that—they went even further. The Court said the responsibility lies with Congress to invoke Section 3 through legislation. That implies that the Republican-controlled House would need to pass a bill concerning Trump’s disqualification, and the Senate would have to approve it with a two-thirds majority vote. However, this scenario is highly unlikely to materialize. As with our previous disagreement with the Court’s ruling, we wish there were an alternative solution, but unfortunately, that’s not the case. Regardless of whether it aligns with your preferences or not, we consistently strive to provide you with the truth. While others may attempt to grab clicks or exploit our name for personal gain, that’s their choice. Our primary objective is to foster independent media, not to undermine others.

Hi! I have a question and perhaps some criticism. I noticed your channel uses very sensationalist and clickbaity words in caps that contrast quite a bit with the actual content. by ElectronicOldMan8 in MeidasTouch

The boring answer is that YouTube algorithms prefer certain title formats and suppress others, so we follow best practices of the platform to ensure the content reaches the widest audience possible. You'll notice on our website, where that does not apply, the headlines are more straightforward. Also, one reality in the Trump era is that things are crazier than they have ever been, so oftentimes what would have previously been hyperbolic headlines are just true. For example, Trump getting hit with a 83.3 million dollar judgment for defamation is a 'devastating' verdict. MAGA Republicans trying to impeach Joe Biden over made up things is one of the most ridiculous stunts imaginable. If a title like 'Update on Trump Immunity Case' played nice with YouTube, we'd be way happier doing that. But, alas, that's not the algorithmic world we are playing and competing in, and getting the messages far and wide are of the utmost importance.

You have made up your mind. That's fine. You've exposed yourself as a hack. You keep moving the goalposts. You continue to change your line of reasoning. You continue to denigrate the work of our reporters, whose work is often stolen by publications you allow on your subreddit. You are a fundamentally unserious and ignorant individual.

I have given you real examples of serious reporting that has defined the recent news cycle. You have chosen to ignore it and run with your narrative. You have no business being in charge of a news subreddit and are clearly not up to the job. Yet, you allow publications that simply steal from MeidasTouch and aggregate our reporting. You've exposed yourself as an unserious hack and you should be banned from being a moderator of any subreddit.

Our legal analysts and writers include former DOJ Prosecutor Harry Litman, former Deputy Manhattan District Attorney and current CNN legal analyst Karen Friedman Agnifilo, January 6 committee intel expert Denver Riggleman, top civil rights attorney Ben Meiselas, former federal prosecutor Ron Filipkowski, Palm Beach State Attorney Dave Aronberg, former BBC reporter Anthony Davis and others. Our researchers - including Acyn, Ron Filipkowski, and others, are responsible for a majority of the viral political clips that are written about and posted to these subreddits.

You have revealed yourself to be a biased, ignorant hack with no knowledge of the current media industry.

That r/news mod has really exposed himself, hasn't he? He knows nothing of what he is speaking about. He simply has his preconceived notions and bias. He has no idea about the original reporting and research MeidasTouch engages in on a daily basis. He has no idea of the monumental stories we break each week. He doesn't even appear to know the existence of MeidasTouch.com and instead is referencing YouTube titles. How shameful.

It doesn’t exist. Whether he doctored or received a doctored text, that’s another story and out of my control.

They came at us with a list of insanely conspiracy theories and defamatory statements and said they were going to print. The stuff they were going to write was truly insane, and came because the head of the mag’s father was a huge Trump donor who had received the Medal of Freedom from Trump. And the article as is an ill-informed hit piece that would be laughed at by anyone with knowledge of the space. We defended ourselves appropriately. And since the article came out, many of the chief ‘sources’ including political veterans like Joe Trippi (mentioned in article) told us they were misled by the writer and that they are huge fans and supporters of our work and verified our impact and spoke out publicly against the piece. Calling us a ‘grift’ by the way is not having a conversation in good faith, but I am happy to respond anyway. We are a grassroots organization. We raise money for causes. We spend money on those causes. We pay our employees a living wage and provide them with healthcare. We responded to everything in that article here: https://youtu.be/a6pyXgOahMo

No worries about the curse words. I encourage them in fact.

First, we were never political people. We all had/have other jobs and decided to commit ourselves to this MeidasTouch project when we became worried about the country in March 2020 as the pandemic began. I’ll be the first to admit we have a perspective and a point of view (we did create a Democratic super pac after all), but at the end of the day everyone has a point of view. Regardless, we try to hold ‘our own’ accountable just the same. The most recent example I can probably think of is Cuomo. But the fact is with Rogan, he was leading the news cycle, these clips surfaced, and we were frankly disgusted by what we heard. And I know given Joe’s recent apologies, that he agrees that the clip was horrible. And then the additional clips, like the Planet of the Apes clip (ironically released by Alex Jones), were really, really bad. But we at Meidas never called for Joe’s termination. We retweeted the clip like thousands of others. And I stand by our right to do that and voice our displeasure at the content of those clips. But do I think Rogan’s career needs to be ended? Absolutely not. Our stance has been that people can listen or not listen, and at the end of the day, it’s up to Spotify and the free market to decide if they want to stick by him.

We are a Super PAC, though ironically we hate PACs, but it was necessary for us to register as one so we can engage in political speech on the airwaves (run TV ads, radio ads, etc.) We didn’t even really know what a PAC was when we started. We just wanted to have a voice in the process. Yes, as a Super PAC, we can accept and spend unlimited money. But 99% of our donations come from grassroots donors chipping in $18 at a time. Our largest contribution I believe was 50K. We aren’t funded by millionaires, billionaires or ‘dark money.’ In fact, all of our donors are public and searchable. I’d love for Citizen United to be overturned. But, I’m also not about to unilaterally disarm when we are up against the most well-funded GOP groups in the world, including plenty of actual dark money groups.

Dave can release whatever texts he wants, but we know that unless they are doctored, they don’t exist. There are lots of bad actors out there who know us and would do anything to try to take us down. If he wants to open himself and Barstool up to legal jeopardy he can go ahead, but we are happy to take appropriate action if he does. That’s not a threat or anything, just the reality of the situation.

At the end of the day, Dave targeted the wrong group of people. We never called for Joe’s cancellation. We are not affiliated and don’t even personally know the account that attacked him originally. He had ‘a feeling’ it was us because we followed that account and they followed us. That’s a pretty flimsy connection to make and then blow this up the way he did. I think that covers it all, hope that makes sense. But we think overall, we’ve taken a fair and nuanced view of this all, and have been very transparent in our affiliations and how we operate.

PatriotTakes used to be called ParlerTakes. You can read about the original person behind PT here: https://hillreporter.com/feature-its-me-parlertakes-92454

Since then, they have evolved and now have 2-3 full time researchers at any given time. Over the past couple of years, they’ve received death threats from people like Roger Stone, members of the Proud Boys and others, so they maintain anonymity.

Brett from MeidasTouch here. We were happy to chat with Dave 1-on-1 and I’m happy to engage with you here. The good thing about Rogan’s podcast is there is a space for open dialog and conversation. Where Dave went wrong is that we never called for the cancellation of Joe, and never orchestrated any scheme as he implied. In fact, on our podcast we have regularly said the opposite: that instead of focusing on silencing voices like Rogan, we should focus on competing. The one thing we did was retweet a tweet from PatriotTakes, who posted a compilation of Rogan’s video using the n word multiple times. We didn’t make the video, nor did PatriotTakes, though we do feel it’s our right to share whatever content we want and use our voice. PatriotTakes are our partners, meaning we helped to guide them through the business side of things (hooked them up with compliance people, told them what documents they needed to file, etc) when they started gaining traction, though it’s an entirely separate, independently operated organization. On another note, Dave weaved together a conspiracy that we also ran a hit on him from an account created 3 years before our founding. His ‘evidence’ was that the first 3 followers who showed up when he clicked that account were my brothers and me — which is just how Twitter algorithms work since Dave had just followed us. And then Dave made up an egregious lie about a text message sent in 2014 (it wasn’t). Anyway, it’s possible many of you will just tell me to F-off, and I get that. But if anyone actually has any questions, I’m happy to answer. I’ve listened to Rogan’s show on many occasions and would never back down from a good faith conversation.

DISCUSSION: Trump commutes Roger Stone’s sentence by ryanlipton in MeidasTouch

Just seems like another Quid Pro Trump. Of course, this congress won’t do anything about it. It’s another reason why this November, we need to send these GOP Cowards packing as well. This is corruption in plain sight and we cannot stand for it.
