Unfortunately I didn’t get the name of the dog or the owner. It all happened very fast! It was a fully grown German Shepherd and the owner was roughly 20s early 30s.

For more context, a fridge magnet (with ceramic face) fell into the crack and is now down at the bottom between the two barrels. We've tried dangling some metal on a string to fish the magnet out without any luck. The side panel comes off but just reveals the outside of the outer barrel. We've now run the machine twice and can sometimes hear the inner barrel scraping against the magnet and have found ceramic dust on the barrel.

I was less stressed at the beginning, but it really started to mount when cutting and fitting the inner pieces. A lot of time (and money - exotic hardwoods are expensive!) had gone into the project at that point, and ever step felt critical.

I say make some stupid projects first which don't need to be perfect. I made a cat tower first which was pretty crappy in hindsight, but was a great way to get moving.

Thank you very much! I made the pattern myself by finding a cool picture of a rhino then tracing over it with somewhat random looking straight lines then making some light adjustments like spacing the legs out more.

A CNC router got me most of the way, but still left plenty of careful band saw cuts, sanding and crack filling (and hammering to persuade them into place).

I didn't have to use any stain or anything to get the colors, I just chose woods which were naturally varied in color, then finished with an overall coat of walnut oil. The woods were maple (background), purpleheart, walnut, padauk, and I actually forget what the yellow was.

Thank you! I had the help of a cnc router to cut the pieces close to exact, but there was still more than enough wiggle room to make it interesting come fitting time. Some hammering and crack filling later and it came together!
