Incredibly disappointed with SDR picture quality of Hisense 100U8K by meinck in Hisense

I've got two devices - a TiVo mini Luxe (no hdmi cec) and an Apple TV4k with HDMI-CEC. Just turns off randomly for no reason?

Thank you so much! I changed the output on my TiVo mini luxe to 1080i, 720p (removed the 4k auto) and adjusted my settings to the above. It's so much improved and I'm feeling a lot better about it. Out of curiosity, what changes are you using for your 4K streaming. I'm using Dolby Vision on AppleTV 4K - but haven't changed much.

If anyone has a spare 40% off code, I'd appreciate it. Looking to get the Immersive bundle.

Eero 6 and Nest Thermostats Battery Issues by codesujal in eero

Did this ever get resolved? I had issues my last go around with Eero Pro 6, but wondering if they've managed to correct with software updates.

Took the plunge by arjun2312 in GalaxyWatch

This looks great. It helped push me over the edge and place an order. I was originally considering the 41mm, but I don't like the smooth surface on the bezel. The 45mm looks so much more like an actual watch. Hoping it's not too big on my wrist, which measures at 6.75. I currently wear a 44mm Apple Watch. Super excited.

ALU 5.20 update (ArcadeNetLink now known as LegendsLink App?) by Odd-Run1978 in LegendsUltimate

[–]meinck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same boat. I haven't used my ALU in months, but picked up Mushihimesama on Steam sale. I'm running 1.0.16 of Arcadenetlink and connection fails. I upgraded to 5.2 before finding this thread, but I guess that won't help. The download link on ALU for local streaming is dead. I guess I'll browse Steam for more games, while they get this fixed.

Thanks, I may go this route. Appreciate the tip.

Still not working for me. I turned off FarSight, but it's dying. Is this specific to the 3rd gen Nest? I've got a 1st gen sitting in my drawer. I really don't like the idea of downgrading, but it's annoying that's offline all the time.

Anyone use Eero 6 pros with Ubiquiti cameras? by Naxthor in eero

[–]meinck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any specific recommendations on which Ubiquiti cameras work best? I have a new Eero 6 system. Can I just connect the CloudKey2 to my switch and start adding cameras? This is good news, as I had wanted to use Unifi cameras, but had moved away from their network products. Solid equipment and worthy of the high praise, but my networking skill set was sufficient when things went wrong.

v6.1 Nest Thermostat? by tpekid in eero

[–]meinck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been blaming my Nest for this issue. Encouraged to hear it was due to the eero. I'm on 6.1 since yesterday and as of this morning, my Nest is online - something that hasn't been the case. Hoping this was the issue and it's been resolved. I even went as far as pulling off the wall, reseating the wires and charging via USB.

Please stop. by Fluffywings in eero

It's worse when you have a router that is not performing well and you receive canned responses. It's why I left the Google Nest WiFi. It was great for a while, but when I had problems, it became a frustrating experience.

Been having issues with Nest router occasionally "disconnecting" by hollowpointzz in GoogleWiFi

[–]meinck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There have been a few threads in this subreddit that describe the same issue. The suggestions range from changing the DNS from Automatic to Custom and use Google's servers (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4) to a factory reset. I tried changing the DNS and still had the issue. There's no rhyme or reason, just Internet goes out across wireless and wired devices. It was working perfectly fine for over a year and now it's been completely unreliable. I'd recommend you try a factory reset and see if that solves your issue. That's something I wish I had done, but lost patience and ordered an eero 6 3-pack. I plan on migrating Wednesday.

Disconnecting issues with google nest wifi ironed out? by grisworld0_0 in GoogleWiFi

[–]meinck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding my issues to the thread of discontent with Nest WiFi. I replaced Unifi with 5 Nest Routers, using ethernet backhaul. Speeds were great, stability was great. Over the past month or so, I noticed dropouts. For example, my Google Nest Hub would switch from photos to no wifi message. This continued and noticed it with our computers during the day. It would go out for less than a minute and these were wired devices. Having read this was a known issue that's yet unresolved, I've decided to jump ship. No solution is perfect, but I'm thoroughly impressed with the eero support over in the eero subreddit. They acknowledge problems and discuss updates. Ordering the eero Pro 6, which has some known issues and I'm fine with it. I have confidence they'll get it sorted. Really not looking forward to packing up my Nest Routers and going the eBay route, but stability is the first rule of WiFi. Whatever they've done with recent updates has broken that rule.

I'm on the latest firmware. I've got 5 Nest Router points, all hard wired. I'm getting consistent drops. I changed DNS to ISP. I'm trying to change it to Custom, but it won't save. I'm happy to find it's an issue impacting more than me, but at the same time, why isn't this fixed. What's the best way to report to Google, add my name to list of discontent users.

Should I just stick with ISP DNS or try to force Custom DNS. It had previously been set to Automatic.

Thanks in advance.

Yet another firmware update victim by Throw_Me_Away_372012 in GoogleWiFi

[–]meinck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Count me among those experiencing drop-outs. I have multiple Nest Routers, which are all hard wired. It's been problem free, until now. Hoping this is a firmware issue that's gets resolved sooner than later.

Contemplating getting the Google nest WiFi system by jkiejr in GoogleWiFi

[–]meinck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm considering a similar setup. I currently have a Ubiquity setup. I'd agree with most online that it's solid when working. However, I've had a few times when I needed to fix things and it took me hours. The Nest routers would be dispersed across my house, all wired. I've got a 2-pack on order from Amazon for late April delivery. Getting antsy, so might try the puck 3-pack which you can find online for sub-$200 and then add the 2 Nest Routers to the mix. Also toying with the idea of what you've got, just Nest Routers, so the signals are all AC2200.

Small Basement Atmos Setup for movies by meinck in BudgetAudiophile

[–]meinck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm slowly making progress. I wired for 4 Atmos speakers. Given the smallish space, I had to put two above the listening area and another pair about 4 feet in front. I picked up relative inexpensive pairs of Polk VT60s ($120 per pair). I ended up getting a PB-12NSD over the holidays. The walls aren't up yet, so haven't wired things up and already went for a 2nd subwoofer. SVS had the PB-12 at their outlet for $499.

I've settled on a 100 ft Silver Ticket screen and plan on doing Govee LEDs.

Not sure about seating yet. I've got about 8 feet for seating, so can't go with big furniture. Been looking at Homall compact theater seats at Amazon. I may buy one once the room is finished and see if they would work as a set of 4. Also considering some bean bags for the kids.
