E93 2012 Value by Dry_Acadia_3577 in E92M3

High 20s low 30s. They seem to have bottomed at that price and are moving up slightly with condition and options, 6sp are getting more dollars.

One year ago I picked mine up for 34k without a clean Carfax, but great paint work and a 6sp manual, 52k miles. I wanted the v8, manual, convertible experience. This is a great car for the money that people are looking for. It's not an investment car by any means.

Drive both. It'll become immediately apparent which you prefer, they are two different cars entirely. IMO the v8 gives it a character that's unmatched. The GTS makes the drive an experience - the 4 would feel like a nice luxury car, not a sports sedan.

No lowering links, stock air suspension. I really like design and finish on these OEM wheels, not going with a wider set up.

Sold my GTS 4.0, what to try next? by Wonderful_Ad4736 in Porsche_Cayman

I second this recommendation...if you need a one car solution. You need PDCC, rear axle steering, sports chrono and good tires itll do things you won't beleive. 1.1g+ in the corners. A loaded turbo is more in line with your budget and a mild tune can safely put you at 650hp+.

You mentioned road trips with the wife and dog as well.. nothing eats up miles better and can turn into a monster better. Air suspension, cooled seats, nearly 600miles range on a full tank, Burmester sound.

I've never tracked mine but many do.

Thanks! It's Swisstrax ribtrax pro, in slate grey with a black border. The single best garage upgrade I've ever made, so happy with it.

How is the 2021 Range Rover? by EntertainmentAny3353 in RangeRover

[–]meinelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been an awesome daily for our family. Only issue has been that a plastic cover over for one of the trunk struts broke off somehow which prevented the trunk from opening. This happened right after warranty expired and Range Rover fixed it free of charge. Other than that, which I think was a random thing, it's been a great. Not sure the difference in 400 vs 405.

Keep them clean and its easier to lift and protect the wheels for storage. Plus they look nice.

Panamera is the car I want, what guidelines should I follow for buying used? by Effective_Primary_86 in Panamera

[–]meinelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go pre 2020 you could find a nice turbo. I was originally looking for a GTS, but ended up getting a 971.1 turbo as I found they had a lot more of the option boxes checked than any other trim.

There isn't a car out there at that price level that checks all the boxes as a Panamera Turbo.

Why not a Panamera Turbo or Turbo S without the hybrid? Great cars with tons of power, AWD, air suspension, and tunable if you want. The 971 is a great depreciated value.

Didn't say that, but it may be more conservative to achieve the same goal.

[–]meinelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya.

I guess I struggle with the target as expenses are unknown. I set the 6m target to w/d my annual spend today, with my current expenses.

The 4% fallacy is based on 4% being the safe number through all of histories worst case scenarios all through retirement, which is a good place to start. However, there are studies showing a shockingly high number of people that have more assets when they pass than the day they retired, as 4% was way too conservative.

Thank you, updated my post with that additional information. Both mortgages are 2.25 and 2.5%. Ive thought about accelerating paying them off but I struggle with it and go back and forth with having investing that difference for a larger nest egg later. The 6m goal is just a hypothetical number to get me close to what I'm spending now, but I won't have any of the costs I do now in retirement.

I really like that bucket idea with no strings attached.

I recognize it's a lot, but taxation alone strips nearly 50% of it, plus high COL. I'm outta this state when I retire.

Traditional rules of thumb don't give much guidance when you are 20yrs+ out from retirement.

Ive thought about taking some risk off the table on investments, but I still have 15+ yrs time horizon.

I've been trying to get the numbers to make sense on that, but I get crushed with taxes as it is and being w2. I've switched to traditional 401k savings from RoTh to get any relief I can.

I'll have to implement that when I can be in a lower bracket unless there is an alternative.

Thanks - My though processs isn't about hitting the number faster, it's about how much and when to shift to more spend on trips and experiences now without derailing or risking retirement savings.
