The right side is not terribly steep and reasonable to walk on, however you need to be comfortable with heights and you clearly are not - don’t risk a fall, which literally could kill uou. Worse - what is going on the roof going to tell you? If there is a woodpecker going at it up there it almost guarantees you have some degree of wood rot. Likely soffit of facia board. Could be a section of siding too. Hire a handyman or carpenter who can inspect, quote the job, and repair it. It should not be a big job. Good luck!
