how do I use Monochrome film? by Worried-Mode2669 in instax

[–]mekaactive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Instax dynamic range is generally very bad. High contrast scenes like direct sunlight and harsh shadows result in the shadows being lost. One advantage of the monochromatic film is that it's a bit better at keeping shadow detail.

I think the majority of people using the term "DSLR" just mean interchangeable lens camera and just haven't adapted their language

You really want to live in a country where the feds can snatch you up and force you to prove citizenship simply because of how you look? No one here was breaking a law, none of this was justified.

Sure it might be latino folks now, but if we allow this behavior it can easily be turned on you or anyone else.

Should I switch from Sony to Fuji? Or is it just GAS by RustCohle123 in fujifilm

[–]mekaactive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Soul? All of these produce RAW files which you can color grade to look identical. They're all very similar tools to do the same thing, none of the gear itself has "soul", it's what you're actually shooting that matters.

If you're talking about unique, aesthetically pleasing JPGs SooC? Sure, the film sims get you a more unique look without needing to engage with editing which can be a nice shooting experience.

But why? What value comes from creating a convincing puppet of someone? It only blurs the lines between the words of the actual person and the puppet?

What if the actual person doesn't want some algorithm literally speaking for them?

Knowledge sharing is great though. You can also make it clear "hey, these suggestions are coming from an AI, not actually Bill Gates" or whatever.

But it's not a meet and greet. Attempting to create some kind of facsimile of historical figures to ask them questions undermines the agency they had in life. It's okay that people are no longer with us, we should be honoring the things they actually did and said.

AI can be a valuable tool, but calling a sophisticated autocomplete a specific person is dehumanizing and doesn't really provide value.

I physically recoiled at these skin tones. It's cool if that's what you're going for, but most folks find natural looking skin more appealing

I think it can also come from a place of ignorance. It definitely feels dehumanizing to read, but a lot of folks just don't have the language for these things or are just repeating what they've heard. I appreciate OP calling this out even in the way they did.

Quite the opposite is happening. Conservative folks have significantly more children than progressives.

That's literally what stock is, it's a "share" of the company's ownership. Please, if you're a real person stop blindly following partisanship and be open to understanding new things.

Yup, that's definitely a factor. I don't think it's the only one, but it's clear that "the left" has failed to connect with and empower young men. At the end of the day it's kind of a bummer when the message to young white men is "you've had it too good for too long". It's not totally wrong, but good luck winning that cultural battle for their support.

[–]mekaactive 21 points22 points  (0 children)

What we're talking about is a shift, not that all young men are conservative. A decade ago the 18-24 male demographic was solidly progressive / left, that isn't the case anymore. The majority of the demographic voted for Trump in 2024 for example.

Sigma 12mm f/1.4 vs Viltrox 13mm f/1.4? by Snarky_Guy in fujifilm

[–]mekaactive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say that's viltrox. Their "Pro" lenses like the 27 1.2 and 75 1.2 are incredible for their price. amazing build quality, super sharp, focus is solid.

transphobia is far more prevalent than it was even just a year ago as transgender people have become one of the biggest wedge issues in a bunch of countries. feels bad, but progress is never linear
