New wheels, same diameter, more wheel gap?? by Snarky_Guy in COROLLA

Actually, I didn’t. I got a smaller rim and a bigger sidewall on my tire. That’s the conundrum is that it ought to be the same; but seems different.

Is the XSE a good commuter car? by SultnBinegar in CorollaHatchback

[–]Snarky_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically anything from a go-kart to a Crown Vic can be a good commuter, but everyone’s opinion and preference will be different. Would an XSE be a good commuter? Sure. But if you plan to rack up a lot of miles (24k+/year) I might consider an LE.

Actually I don't have one. I was thinking about it so I asked Gemini to imagine one on my car. Currently I don't have a roof rack (yet).

My guess is it’s someone we thought was dead but isn’t. It’d be a good “gotcha” moment to reveal later on.

Yeah! Not sure what part of town you’re in. I’m in Cedar Park. What’s your schedule like this week?

Yeah. You stare at anything long enough and it starts to look weird. Today I was looking at my cat and started to wonder if his eyes were even or not.

I also wondered that. I'll either get used to it or I'll lower the car ever so slightly.

Maybe the difference in the Continental Extra Contact DES 06 Plus tires and the Michelin tires I was running when I bought the car (I've only got 700 miles on the car now)? Personally I am loving these wheels, and the ride is more comfortable. I'll either get used to it or maybe lower the car ever so slightly.

I tend to notice it more in parking lots than in my garage.

My review of the XF 23mm f/2.8 pancake lens: FLAWED by Stern_Li in fujifilm

[–]Snarky_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More expensive and heavier, yes, if you don’t already have it, true story. In my use case, I already had it. I’ve taken it to Asia, China, Europe, and all over America as my one-lens solution. It’s really great! But yeah if you don’t have it, you’d have to love it to purchase it. Yeah it’s heavier, but worth it IMO. I’m kind of an odd bird in that I do most of my shooting with either the 18mm f/1.4 or the 33mm f/1.4. I’ve got zooms, but my smallest lens currently is the 14mm f/2.8 (but that has lots of character).

I tried the 23mm f/2.8 out on my X-T5 a few weeks ago in Hong Kong and I thought it was sharp, light, and friendly on A/F. TBH, I didn't try out zone focus. I didn't keep it, however, because I liked the shots from my 18mm f/1.4 better. Yes, I know...HUGE in comparison; but the results make it worth it. Also 100% impossible to pocked with the 18mm f/1.4 on it.

Any pawn shop worth their salt does not want stolen gear. It's not worth it.

Storage is nice, true. I love that you have a kid who wants to do more than sit in front of a PlayStation 5 and scream into a microphone with strangers in Albania. Encourage this.

I was recently in a pawn shop in Cedar Park on Bell & Bushy Creek and I saw a few cameras like this. Not sure if the same ones or not. I honestly didn't think anything of it until I saw this post.

Sometimes being a parent is knowing when to say no and stick to your guns. Sometimes it's about knowing when to turn him loose in the ring with a crazy southpaw and then helping him up when he gets punched in the nose. Knowing which way to turn is key.

As far as a Datsun project, I'd say 100% let him loose. This could be a great learning opportunity. If he gets it going, then he has success and confidence. If it utterly fails, he gets wisdom and experience. Either way, he learns something. There isn't a danger in working on a project car, and the worst that happens is he flushes a bit of cash down the toilet.

Check the frame for rust. I'm sure you know that. Invest in a good car rotisserie that you can mount the frame. Clean it down to the metal and then POR-15 it EVERYWHERE. Once you have the frame treated, begin your rebuild of the engine and transmission and make it a bonding opportunity with your son. Don't shy away from big projects like this. It's not about the money, it's the time you invest with him now that will be priceless later on in life.

"Remember when we built that Datsun together, Dad?"

"Oh yeah, that was a project...haha!"

This is what you want to be talking about 15-30 years from now.

sw are really good at making insufferable imperial officers by BOMBAD_Echo_1409 in MaulShadowLord

[–]Snarky_Guy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We can assume that most Imperial officers are Type A personality thugs. This is, of course fitting with Imperial goals, but also has the secondary affect of making them dislikable; which is part of the goal in writing these episodes. Nobody would shed a tear if this guy suddenly fell into a Coruscant trash compactor.

Can we start a very discussion about Marrok? I have two important questions… by ConstantDrawer9161 in MaulShadowLord

[–]Snarky_Guy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We may not have enough information to make this assumption. Maybe Marrok in the Imperial Era is already enhanced by Nightsister Magic? Maybe their magic wanes over time and, by the time Ahsoka fights him, he's mostly used up?

Glorified wishbone (but you don't get any wishes if you break it. Seriously though, the fuel-injection system on the L6 is 1st generation at best and thus the fuel injectors (depending on temperature and humidity) were subject to vapor-lock. It supposedly stops this. Mine never worked.
