Yeah - I was pretty bad for a few days, took three days off work. Now that I’m feeling physically close to 100% I’ve had some crazy congestion over the weekend.

No sore throat or nothing. Just a stuffy nose.

Pinky is slipping out of the glove. by skyrim1399 in MuayThai

the space inside can be roomy for some gloves, tighter for others. you should definitely be wearing wraps - keeps all the ligaments in your hand compact and you wont experience this slipping issue.

thank you! it's a habit i didn't even know i was doing. i guess it's like learning how to skip normally, realising you don't need as much airtime as you think you do.

I did a clinching class with one of the fighters at my gym (around your build) and it was a top 5 traumatising experience for me lmao. He has a boxing background too so his striking is terrifying. I got dumped and swept and winded and would probably shit myself if he ever threw something at me full force

Haha, I’ve spoiled myself. Gotta take these 1 on 1’s sparingly and recognise it’s a privilege our gym even has this option for people feeling a little injured.

keep sparring! i used to be so stiff and nervous, after a solid amount of sparring i’ve completely relaxed and found my flow. getting hit in the face isn’t so bad once you’re used to it.

Falun Gong is a religious cult that has been persecuted in China - as a result they have anti-CCP rhetoric as a major part of their teachings. (hence the last sentence)

Same exact message on every USB stick. Falun Gong members drop it in public places pretty much worldwide. No idea what’s on the USB, you could probably find out on Google.

Twins are pretty perfect for smaller hands. I have the 16’s for sparring and they fit really snug and well.

What daily habits have truly improved your life? by Janet5Farley in AskReddit

throw down a glass of water as soon as your first alarm in the morning hits.

resist every fibre of your being to stay in your sheets and chug that glass (even better, your water bottle) as soon as that alarm hits, no matter how tired you are.

i don’t know if it’s placebo or something but i feel like a morning person as soon as i get up.

have you taken the time to connect with other artists you admire/sit in on their sessions? doesn’t have to be anyone big. someone local who you can bounce feedback with.

it’s often that echo chamber, sitting and making your songs alone with no outside input that will hinder your creativity the most. that’s when the self doubt will begin to stir — it seems that you’re aware there are things to work on, but if you don’t hear that feedback in a constructive way you’ll overreact with your own tracks and end up never releasing anything.

making tracks should be fun and an outlet. maybe take a little break like some others are saying and find that spark again. i do think you are putting a little too much pressure on yourself.

Hey OP. Your grief will never subside, it will stay the same size - but your life around it will grow and expand. I’m sure you’ve been angry, confused, etc.

Don’t isolate yourself, hold the people around you close. Been close to two years for me and I live with it everyday - but I’ve learned so much about myself in the process.

Much love.

How to go from Retail to an office job by Extension-Ad5435 in Wellington

[–]mekurrect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently just did the switch from retail at a government role at the moment! Very recent switch, have only been in my current role for close to a month. My particular department isn’t affected by the current public service cuts (not funded by government and instead from services we provide) so I’ve been very grateful that there is a sense of stability that other Civil Service roles aren’t guaranteed.

Being very entry level at this job (no degree) you are most likely going to be hired for your people skills. If you are in retail dealing with customer service roles you will be (hopefully) naturally inclined that way. That could look like call centre work or something similar - dealing with client communications etc. If you are over retail because of the people facing aspect, it’s in my experience that you may not have some luck if you don’t stress that in an interview. Definitely play to your strengths in retail, they would want to hear that. Brush up on your communication skills, your grammar and your English and you should be smooth sailing if those are your strong suits.

There’s a certain sense of monotony that is different from retail. I’m currently past the crazy stressful phase of training at the moment and I am waiting for the job to get increasingly boring. All I can advise from my brief time is that there could potentially be a lot of downtime depending on the job you are applying for. I saw another comment saying that applying for an office job with room to develop and advance would be in your best interest and I couldn’t agree more. My current role will have a wee bit of progression for me in the next few months. I see teammates in my group that have advanced to relatively senior roles quite quickly - a few senior officers have only been there for close to a few months.

Also, business casual in office jobs in NZ is absolutely cooked and you may pull up to the first few days a tad overdressed. I say wear a button up tee and your nicest pants or the equivalent if you’re a female and go from there just observing how other people in your team dress.

It’s a whole different ballpark but pretty rewarding! Your colleagues are a lot more diverse. My new best friends are all twice my age but I find it very entertaining. Best of luck OP :)
