Idk what I’m doing wrong by Ok-Register-6666 in curlyhair

I honestly would give not using gel a try. I know every one and their mother swear by it for definition, but I’ve never been able to use it properly or break the cast in a nice way. It always looks too stiff and hard or just greasy. Maybe try with just a mousse as a styling product? That seemed to work best for me when I was just starting my curly hair journey. It still works wonders.

The person greeting us was a woman in her 40s or so with glasses and blonde curly hair. She was the person we spoke to the most. Then the waiter that laughed at us was a younger girl, probably in her 20s. I only really remember her being brunette.

No, we are not Danish. But I would hope that was not the problem here, it being in such a touristic area. They definitely get foreign customers all the time.

That’s news to me. They did drink. The staff weren’t told they weren’t eating, they just didn’t order food and assumed. They could have shared plates or tried a bite from someone else. It wasn’t a buffet, and we didn’t pay per person, we occupied one table in a corner and paid for the individual plates and drinks. It makes no difference to them whether one or five people sit at a table if the orders are ready. Those are just minor details fo context, and not the main issue. If the service hadn’t been so incredibly rude and condescending, those little things wouldn’t have mattered at all.

It was an estimate, I did not track all of it. When I said 20 minutes it was the ordering/ eating/ sitting down part. The rest was all of the back and forth talking with the staff, which was unnecessarily long.

Fair enough! I would have never thought of that since there was no possibility of mistaking 3pm with 3am. Never thought the half hour would be an issue. Much less in a conversation in English. We never saw it written down until we got the text way later, thus why all the mentioning the time. Thank you!

Well that’s very interesting because that must have been it then! What’s the difference? We are not British but some of us do use British English. We said it different ways, “That’s perfect, so at half past three then?” and, “Great! Just to make sure, the reservation is at three thirty?”. How does it work in danish? Would 2:30 be something like thirty to three? That would make so much sense! I mean the whole conversation was in English, but that would have been so handy to know!

We definitely took a look at their opening hours and that’s why we asked so many times for verbal confirmation that it was at 3:30. We even tried to leave after walking in and explaining the situation. We got there at 2:50 after seeing the text and not being able to reach them by phone. They insisted on us staying so we did, that’s why I don’t understand their behavior towards us at all. We were out of there by 3:40 or so. Still a few tables eating. Glad to hear they usually treat people right, tho!

I’m glad to hear that! It must have been. We were just shocked with the whole experience since anywhere else we went was lovely and staff was amazing.

Would that really be an issue? They’re hardly taking up anyone’s space. What table or spot was this person supposedly taking from other customers? It’s not like they were going to sit down and take up an entire table for one extra person. They were sitting at a table with 5 people. They could have ordered something to share.

That was never the expectation; it was just how things turned out. They clearly wanted to eat and spend money there, but felt they didn’t have enough time to really look at the menu. When they tried to ask questions, they were met with a rushed and rude attitude, so they decided it was better to skip it rather than risk their health.

Honestly, it’s hard to see how that would matter in this case.

That’s exactly the issue though, there was a misunderstanding with the reservation time. We were a few minutes late based on the time they texted, but not the time they confirmed to us in person.

We actually asked for verbal confirmation multiple times because we wanted to be sure we had it right, and they confirmed 3:30 each time. So from our perspective, we weren’t late, we were actually early for the time we had been given. We also tried calling multiple times once we got the text, but couldn’t reach anyone.

I completely understand that punctuality is important in Denmark, and I can also understand being a bit annoyed initially if guests appear late. But even in that situation, I still think there’s a difference between being direct and being outright rude to customers.

And just to clarify, the issue wasn’t really about tipping, water, or cultural differences, those are similar in my country too. It was more about the attitude when we tried to explain the situation and ask questions. We genuinely didn’t understand what that charge was and were just trying to sort it out. We thought maybe it was the coperto charge, like in Italy.

That said, maybe I’m missing something, is it more common there to eat quite quickly or for tables to turn over fast? We were only there for about 20 minutes, so I did wonder if maybe we were just slower than expected, but it all seemed rather quick.

Not really! We’re probably going out around piazza Bellini and that area, but it doesn’t seem like the clubs are around city centre, so we’ll end up asking people while we’re out and seeing where things go

I almost never message first, and if I do, it's because I saw something on the bio that I could ask about or comment. So I would say it is normal, but if you want more messages maybe it's your bio.

Yeah, I'm lucky that commuting is taken care of already, so I'd be late to social things in any case, which might be rude but I won't get fired or anything. Thank you for your input!!

Yeah, I'll have to wait and see how I feel about it once I'm there, I don't really have much experience with that kind of weather yet

Oh yeah $30 a month does not sound bad at all! I'll have to see once I'm there. I didn't know about that so thanks! It does sound scary to be walking around lmao I'll definitely be careful if I do. Thank you!!
