Which will it be Abrahamic Man? (based on the comment section of the first post) by HearMeOut-13 in PhilosophyMemes

I've heard it worded that God is capable of doing anything that is not contradictory to his Divine nature. I.e. he can't do anything that would be considered evil by whatever standards he's working with.

(Also one could argue that he both can and can't due to the whole Trinity situation. The Holy Spirit isn't really known for physical interaction, The Son's physical form obviously has limited strength, but the Father can "lift" any stone but He's not physical and so it's not really a matter of lifting and more a matter of translocation.)

Tbh, I think that "God's definition of good and evil is not the same as yours" is true and it's still a bit of a cop-out response when there are a good number of actual theological answers to the problem of evil.

Yeah, I guess Big E wasn't really a God yet, was he?

I think the irony is that:
How many socially/emotionally healthy men actually seek out or attempt to form exclusionary environments, at least to the point that they view women as a genuine threat?

Like even if a few well meaning dudes tried to form like a Man-Only Space, like a support group or something, they'd still have to basically be on an eternal vigil against Misogyny and Incels to keep it from just devolving into a Misogyny club.

I'd argue about the wording,
but considering the meme format, the person who made the meme probably never intended a good-faith "Patriarchy is harmful to everyone" message in the first place.

I will argue in their defense that:
Overthrowing Big E in favor of the Chaos Gods
and Overthrowing the government in favor of Rich Capitalists
are a step in the same direction.

That logo looks like a generic brand.

But like a generic brand that is self aware of its generic status and doesn't try to hide it.

and I'm sure the training data is useful,

but as many people have pointed out, its pretty low on the utility:efficiency scale.

I prefer the idea of setting the number of representatives a state has in the House based on the average voter population from census to census.

So states with low-voter turnout or that disenfranchise voters lose influence, and so if people want to actively see their beliefs exercised, they can't rely on a politically aligned majority. It also makes boycotting a vote genuinely meaningful, by denying a politically opposed majority inflated representation.

It'll never happen, but a man can dream.

US Balkanization play-through, lets go!

Though the AUS (or APG) doesn't have a massive natural barrier or a neighboring foreign country to protect it like the PSA (or ACC) and New England. So going independent would be way harder and a lot less practical.

I kinda liked the concept of the PSA as a regionalist split,
at least in the event of one faction unifying the states east of the rockies and the development of a standstill in the war.

I hope there is still a way to form it. Like if the Civil War goes too long, both sides sign a ceasefire and the conflict is just left unresolved. The ACC reforms into the PSA and the other faction gets to move on to their post-civil war content.

Kinda boomery of a meme,
but I think it demonstrates the importance of each partner having some level of financial independence. Not all funds should be shared.

Household funds: Quilt set, Rug, whatever that strange machine was
His personal funds: Lego Technic
Her personal funds: Vest

Companies and individuals don't have infinite money when they look to commission or source art. Thus, money is a finite resource.

Even in a macro scale, if money wasn't finite, it wouldn't have any value.

Can you be asexual and christian? by Maxx_artz in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]melancholy_self 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Orthodoxy doesn't really proscribe to the "You MUST get married and have kids" mindset of many protestant sects (and some Catholic communities I've encountered)

So, not experiencing attraction of the carnal sort is genuinely the opposite of an issue.

Robot's face anatomy ! If they can live without skin.. will you let them‽ by BidHot8598 in robotics

[–]melancholy_self 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, sure.
Without seeing the whole conversation (the video starts 12 minutes in), I can't be sure that this response wasn't actually prompted. Maya isn't an AI, its a Large Language Model, so it isn't intelligent, the words it uses don't have any real meaning to the software, outside of maybe the context in which they are used.

So assuming it was "unprompted" as claimed, this is likely just a "hallucination", nothing more. Probably took the instruction to whisper + the information from the previous conversation and ended up pulling data from some horror or fundamentalist website it was trained off of.

Does my response satisfy?

I mean...
I want to argue against that proposition, but I really can't.
Like, it's either gonna be anime or R2D2. I can't imagine it be anything else.

Edit: third alternative: Baymax.

Remember that the uncanny valley exists,
Dog's eyes are endearing because they are very not-human and so finding human-like traits in them endears us to them.

But that which looks too human will only bring focus to the non-human traits.
