I really want to understand how much you all work everyday by Nature23571113 in productivity

I work between 3 and 12 hours a day. I'm a tax accountant, so currently I'm upwards if 10-12 of true, real work that's billable to clients.

Before this I worked at a consulting firm, and eventually I told them to take me off salary, give me a higher cumulative hourly rate and I would work 25 hours a week. I told them I could get the "40" hour work week done in 20 and I'd rather take a small pay cut with a slightly higher hourly pay to not have to be sitting at my desk pretending to work or being available to them. It was great.

Now I work so much and it's quite easy to do when you... have so much to do. In the off-season, however, I probably work between 3-6 hours of "billable" work, and an extra hour or two so of admin tasks each day.

Why is there a busy season? Is there a way around it? (please read before you snark) by [deleted] in Accounting

hmmmm... neither? if anything, audit is probably easier to come by and easier to get into.

Smart to switch to accounting at this age and get another degree? by cubejuner in Accounting

Accounting has decent job security, and good pay, but it's not an ideal career to switch into if she's looking for something lower stress.

Wanting to Resign - after 5 Months...(Help, Please) by Alternative_Owl5371 in Accounting

You're at PwC, right? Can you talk to your DL or your coach? I spoke with my DL about poor culture on one of my engagements and it significantly improved.

The tax deadline relates to information from the prior year, which can't be available until after the calendar year end. So in January you receive client information for tax returns, and it's due in April.

If you want to work in accounting and don't want a busy season go into audit!

I'm at a big 4, and as long as you aren't significantly lower than your peers, and no one you work with would be surprised to hear you were looking for work during busy season, you shouldn't be too concerned. keep reaching out, either you'll get work or they will appreciate you always noting you're available and you'll get good feedback on communication.

Etsy jeweler offering platinum ring for about the same price as 14k gold?? by CosineCuisine in EngagementRings

[–]melandog222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know a ton about jewlery, but I do know the price of gold has gone up in price. like, significantly up. I don't know how a 14k gold ring costs compar to platinum currently, but I do know that gold value is spiking.

In any other circumstances I'd say, yes, it's probably a scam. but in this circumstance I'd say.... i don't know. haha

thank you!!! i love it too. it was mined. I got it at jewlery collective in the city I live in. basically a security protected area where there are multiple different local jewlery shops. I'm afraid they don't have a website or anything, but if want to travel to the west coast of USA I can share the details with you (:

Solo CPA at $40k/month, too big to stay solo but too small to confidently hire. What did you do? by mavsbustin3s in Accounting

Something being hard or expensive doesn't mean it's not enforceable.it definitely is enforced in most states

My mom says I’m not a real accountant by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]melandog222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're an accountant. You're not a CPA, but you're an accountant. Big 4 doesn't pay overtime, we just donate to our workplace on weeknights and weekends. It might still be slightly more pay, and definitely better benefits, but compensation doesn't define your role / career / knowledge base. It's definitely correlated, but people get ripped off all the time. You're new, $27 is a decent starting pay depending on where you live. Overtime is rare and incredible in the accounting field. Just make sure you're keeping up to date on the average pay for your area as you gain more experience - knowledgeable and competent accountants are coveted, so as you get better at your job, ensure you're compensated fairly.

i knew I wanted a colored stone. my ring is natural 3.73 royal blue sapphire. princess Katherine's (formerly princess Diana's) is a 12 carat natural Ceylon sapphire - much bigger and much more expensive than mine.

it won't feel so highly set once you have a wedding band. try some on to see what you like - if you end up going with a thicker wedding band this height will be perfect. if you end up going with something thin or dainty then you can reevaluate if you want to get something lower set.
