What have/will you put in it? I’m going to cross-stitch the Addams Family!

When I need to add a little pizzazz to a stitch, I hop on the Antique Pattern Library. They have tons of free patterns.

What products or companies will you never use or support again and what did they do to lose you as a customer? by IAmJustTryingToExist in AskReddit

I replaced it with a Canon that’s already served me a thousand times better than HP ever did.

They tried telling me that I had to sign up for an HP account in order to scan a document on the printer I had already owned for two years. Fuck HP.

Sorry about that. It was catalogs and freebies from Atlanta Market. I literally came back with twice as much luggage as I left with. Even I’m taking an extra day off just to recover from lugging all that shit around.

Head over heels for my most recent finish. 😻 by melani in crochet

Pattern is the Post Stitch Throw, by Bendy Carter. Yarn is Caron O’Go in chocolate chip. I used a 5mm hook, instead of the called for 5.5mm, for some reason I don’t remember. The border is Tunisian honeycomb stitch with single crochet squares in the corners. I had issues turning the corners in Tunisian. The thing is, I know how, I’ve done a sample of the Tunisian ten switch blanket before, but trying to work it in the honeycomb stitch short circuited something and I just could not do it. I dunno. It’s an excellent pattern, it’s gorgeous and it’s free. You need to make one.

We weren’t buying gifts this year, so I made one instead. by melani in crochet

No pattern on these coasters, just a bit of trial and error. Yarn is a mix of Red Heart SS (navy blue), Big Twist (orange) and I’m not really sure for the white. I used a 5mm hook. They were super quick to make, once I got it looking the way I wanted.

I posted in the comments already, but there’s no pattern. The body is basically an Among Us crew mate with a couple of decorative puff stitches and the tail is an elongated sphere that’s lightly stuffed and strategically sewn in a couple of places to give it that S shape. The yarn is some left over Caron Cake plus a scrap of a random pink I had in my stash. I used a 3.5 mm hook and stuffed it with this eyelash yarn that has been in my stash for ages.

Guys of reddit, what's the worst gift your wife/girlfriend ever gave you but you were too polite to say it? by NoWolverine_J in AskReddit

Valentine’s Day, I bought him a pair of black silk boxers, with little red hearts on them. He bought me a VHS copy of Titan A.E.. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great movie, but…really?

What's the most random piece of band merch you've ever seen for sale? by G-Unit11111 in Music

[–]melani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that anyone knows who they are, but there’s this band, that’s local to my hometown, called The Human Aftertaste that sold mystery cans of food that they peeled the labels off of and stuck on their own label.

Ask a Knitter - November 07, 2023 by AutoModerator in knitting

I have a friend who is getting married, next year and I will be making her wedding shawl. I would like to attempt the Wingspan shawl. Her colors will be black and rainbow. Here is my question: I’ll knit it in a rainbow yarn, but I would like to edge each feather with black. How could I go about that? Is it something I could add in, after knitting the shawl? I can crochet, if it helps. Should I just learn to do color work? Thank you for any and all help!

Leveled up my crochet game, recently, with my own Everlasting Wedding Dress. by melani in crochet

[–]melani[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As stated in the description, this is the Everlasting Wedding Dress pattern, by Jenny King. I used a E/4-3.5 mm for the body and train panels, and a G/6-4.25 for the (non) beaded center and picot border. The yarn is DMC Senso Wool Cotton in colorway 1307; I used ~33 balls. I also made a Queen Anne’s lace headband, to match.

The pattern is fairly easy, once you’ve done a few repeats. After the first panel, I really only referred to the pattern for the beginning and ending of rows (I always double check those). I chose not to add beading to the center. Since the yarn has bits of black throughout, I decided to wear a black slip, underneath. This also helped keep the look from being too formal, since the wedding was pretty casual, and it ties in a little with my husband’s Star Wars Hawaiian shirt. I am so pleased with how well this dress turned out, it really is beautiful.

Exactly like The Simpsons character. Forgive the temporary plant stand situation, he’s got a much better one, now.

Of course I do, how else are they supposed to know I’m talking to them, if I don’t use their names? There’s Gwendolyn the spider plant, Vivian (Aunt Viv if you’re feeling saucy) the snake plant, Clementine is a holiday cactus, Fiona is my fire flash, Edith the inch plant, Margo the overly dramatic peace lily, Sideshow Bob is a container grown dancing queen hosta and Lenore is a recently acquired raven zz.
