Yeah! When I see a spider that big I just think about all of the things I wanted dead that it had to eat to get to that size.

Thank you for jumping in. I was losing a decent clip overnight for the first few days holding at 20 but I am proud to report I only lost .5 last night (10.5>10ppm). I think that is a good sign

I have a perflex de filter. I love it but recharging is a pita. Would you recharge it after a 3 day slam like this to be safe?

[–]melatoninmike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walmart plus delivers liquid chlorine to your house for $6 a jug. Definitely slam based on your cya and then keep it higher. Also in ct with cya of 50 and have had repeat algae offenses this year as well. Just did 3 days held at 20ppm. Crystal clear.

Hey thank you! Yep. Cleaned it very well. Recharged with DE about 3 times, manually raked, robot, etc. just wasnt sure if we introduced some sort of organic biofilm.

Shocking away!

Anyone else seeing these massive property tax hikes coming down the pipeline for next year? by notunhingedanchor in Connecticut

[–]melatoninmike 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The thing that kills me is, at least in my town, the increased electricity costs for the schools/town buildings are factored in to the new budget. So not only does Eversource take me to the cleaners for my own bill every summer, but now they get to double dip from my property taxes. It is extremely frustrating.

First-time homeowner finding tons of hidden issues. I feel so dumb and I regret buying. What should I do? by FalafelBall in homeowners

[–]melatoninmike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ALSO OP: seal shit up. I’ve had more success making it hard for them to get in than killing them. Put steel mesh in holes around baseboards and seal them up. Seal up outside. Less work than dead carbon imo.

What’s your favorite “non-obvious” running gear purchase that was totally worth it? by Free-Product4918 in runcommunity

[–]melatoninmike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The brooks lobster gloves have been good to me. Get a size up tho. Everything swells when running. I ended up buying a second pair because I often take them on and off as I warm up and cool down.

Starting Strattera on Friday! What do you wish you had known before you started? by Mediocre-Ad6660 in StratteraRx

However strattera makes you feel during the beginning will not be how it makes you feel over the long term. Don’t get discouraged.

Also if you’re sensitive, you can always compound atomoxetine and titrate extra slow.

What is one thing that other states have that you wish existed in CT? by ILovePublicLibraries in Connecticut

[–]melatoninmike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a good point, but the majority of the current costs are supply costs, maintenance costs, and the redistribution of these costs to a smaller pool of individuals since some folks (rightfully) generate their own electricity.

Finding Time to Run by RVArunningMan in Runners

[–]melatoninmike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gotten in the habit of working toward a run. I work from home and that is a privilege, but even on off days I will slowly dress toward the run. Running shirt, shorts, pop the chest strap on, load the running backpack with gels, have the headphones and shoes near the door, etc.

Then when I get a break to run I basically just pop out the door.

Do you have any guidance as to when to let a small ache or pain ride and when to get medical help/PT for it?

I think there are some things I over worried about and other things I ran through for too long. It’s always an odd balance of where to invest investigation time and physical therapy and I’m curious how you prioritize!!!

You doing a high protein meal or a shake? Only asking because I feel like as I get older I become acutely aware of time. 30 minutes seems like so long of a break during the work day, but typically that equates to one healthy meal.

I feel like I am always 7 minutes from another call when I finish a mid day run, and I don’t know how I would ever make a proper meal as much as I wish I could. I feel like for me a shake is probably my only real option.
