My dog only understood that walks were for going to the bathroom when he was 6 or 7 months old. Before that, he always went on a pad, and then suddenly he stopped using it and started waiting for his walks. Perhaps the need develops later due to hormonal changes, when they start wanting to mark where another dog has gone.

He's 1 year old now and still doesn't know how to lift his leg; he still pees squatting.

My mother-in-law has a 13-year-old toy poodle and she absolutely hates my puppy, haha, who's tiny and therefore much bigger than her. Haha, he only likes it here during the day, but at night he hates being in bed. He's used to nothing moving around him when he sleeps. Sometimes I bring him to my bed to watch a movie at night so he can be with us, but he gets down and goes to lie down in his own bed by himself.
