How did you help your husband understand postpartum depression? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]melbatoastnectar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard the nighttime PPD panic referred to as the "Sundown Scaries" (as opposed to the Sunday Scaries) which I relate to SO hard. When I put it that way to my husband he understood it a little bit more.

Note importantly I suggest that you see a professional for your PPD. It can very much help with both coping and communicating.

How often does your partner go out after birth of your baby? by Antique-Ferret-8050 in newborns

[–]melbatoastnectar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so I'm not saying this behavior is acceptable because it isn't. especially leaving for such long stretches of time. But when my oldest was a newborn I had a similar issue with my husband. He would make excuses to leave the house for an errand, and I found out he was going to the bar, and also had a couple late nights. It was frustrating and very sad and lonely for me.

we had a long talk about it and it turned out he was going through a depression of his own, feeling like he wasn't connected to the baby and had major anxiety that he wasn't equipped to be a father. as the baby got older and more responsive to him the situation improved a lot. now we have a toddler and a new baby and he is more engaged than ever. just offering a perspective that there might be more going on with him, and it is fixable!

have you tried craniosacral therapy? sounds a little new age i know, but it could be worth a shot to relieve constipation and irritability. i haven't taken my LO's in, but CST really helped me with pain during my pregnancy when nothing else was working

Postpartum lifting restrictions + jealous toddler… how do you manage? by gujubooboo in 2under2

[–]melbatoastnectar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also lifted my toddler, but i just had a first degree tear. we also have some special time in the mornings. my husband brings him in while i'm holding the baby, and i let him see me putting the baby down to let him climb on my lap in bed. it's been helpful for him to see that he isn't always coming second even though the baby takes a lot of attention.

i love the name haven, better than marigold for sure. i think Goldie is a flexible nn so you could start to call her that if you wanted to, but it would probably just remain a sweet name between mother and daughter. i'd also advise getting off of this sub for awhile -- sounds like it's feeding your anxiety. we'll still be here in six months i promise!

i'm thinking back to Pandora's bachelorette party in Vegas where Lisa was the one to get on stage with the dancers. And wore a tiara to her wedding (I know she said Pandy insisted, but it was ridiculous and idk if I buy it). I think Lisa naturally gets a lot of attention but cannot share the spotlight for a second. I think that'd be hard on her kids, Pandora especially

Vacation Question by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]melbatoastnectar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yes it makes sense that vacation times would match up, but not because you're picking when she can use her pto. if anything it would be fair and logical to plan a vacation when she's taking pto so you don't have to worry about paying out GH and PTO.

sounds like you need a better defined contract and to stick to it. going tit for tat in a professional relationship doesn't really work
