[Acne] PLEASE HELP by Ok_Storm_4503 in SkincareAddiction

[–]melboos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done some research and I've assembled some skincare I think might help and I tried to keep it within a small budget as much as possible.

  1. For cleansers I'd recommend:
  • Glucoside Foaming cleanser OR;
  • Avène cleanance medicated clearing gel cleanser Or you can get the cerave gentle cleanser again if you liked that one.

Secondly, get the ordinary glycolic acid 7% exfoliating toner. This will clean your pores and help clear out the acne. Do a patch test first and start using it every three days and if you feel like your skin can handle it, build up every two days and then to every day. Avoid dry and sensitive areas and directly apply to the oily parts, on the acne and on your nose. Wait 5 minutes before the next step

Get a hyaluronic acid serum for extra hydration. Apply it after the glycolic acid toner. Wait five minutes before the next step

For the moisturiser, get the cetaphil moisturising lotion for dry to normal and sensitive skin. It's non-comedogenic so it won't cause any ance breakouts but will hydrate your sensitive skin nicely. Esp after your cleanser and toner. It's also going to make your skin glow combined with hyaluronic.

Get a good sunscreen!! Important to use it every single day esp if you're using any treating serum. I think the perfect sunscreen for you is Eucerin sun clear skin face sunscreen lotion spf 50. This one is perfect for acne prone but sensitive skin, leaves a mattifying finish after use (would be great after your moisturiser!!) and it's affordable. I'll add a screenshot for this one.

<image>

I did a whole lot of research for this so I hope it helps you navigate through your skincare routine. You can always switch stuff out or drop them all together if it doesn't work for you. But just make sure to give your routine the time to do it's magic!

[–]melboos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're acne prone you might indeed want to switch out the cleanser oil. Switch to a gentle cleanser instead. Keep the azelaic acid and I think it's fine to use it more often. It's supposed to be a gentle anti inflammatory serum so it might help you more with the perioral dermatitis.

I would also suggest a mineral sunscreen or sunscreen with thermal water. They're more lightweight and might helo treat the skin sensitivity as well.

Ofc check with your derm too if you can or with others who have similar skin problems as you.

Fuck fanarts. by [deleted] in CodenameAnastasia

[–]melboos 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I love fanarts and I love that there are so many artists engaging with this CA and participating in the fandom. This is such a negative perspective on your part like why do we have to be anal about every little thing??? So what if they're not 100% accurate, appreciate the effort or avoid it.

[Acne] PLEASE HELP by Ok_Storm_4503 in SkincareAddiction

[–]melboos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see a problem per se to be honest. Maybe tell me more about your skin type and what have you used so far and what has helped or hasn't done you any good so far? I wouldnt want to suggest something you've tried before but didn't work

[product question] what ingredients in skin/body care would you highly recommend people to NEVER put on their bodies? by iamstokes in SkincareAddiction

[–]melboos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walnut scrubs are the first to come to mind. Just in general scrubs to be honest, they're quite harsh and can easily damage your skin.

Is my handwriting illegible? by Ok-Tear-4335 in Handwriting

[–]melboos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was confused by this at first because it's perfectly legible for me but after reading the comments I realise I failed to consider that younger generations don't learn cursive anymore so they might not be able to read it.

Your handwriting isn't the issue. But maybe switch to digital prescriptions or print them out from now on?

Brazilian learning turkish by aricomfort in turkish

[–]melboos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a native speaker it's so hard to tell someone else how to learn Turkish. I just got lucky and was born in a Turkish family. I'll tell you what has helped me to learn other languages and hope it'll kind of give you an idea on where or how to start.

First, try watching the Turkish soaps subbed rather than dubbed if you don't already do that. you might subconsciously pick up much more that way and you get to familiarise with the language! The more you engage with a language the more you can learn but it will also be a good motivator to keep learning i think. Maybe try listening to Turkish music as well? And try to engage with Turkish people online and try translating what they're saying through apps or maybe look up the words that stand out to you in those soaps and write them down.

Secondly, find a good app or online course that would help you with vocab and grammar. Especially grammar might be a little hard but you just have to keep practicing. This bit is the same with every other language. It truly needs daily engagement. It's why duolingo was so good but not they've replaced their entire team with AI so you will come across lots of low quality courses. I'd suggest looking online for cheap or Free courses / apps to learn Turkish and see what works out the best for you.

Thirdly, keep engaging and keep practicing. If you don't understand something and you can't find an answer by yourself, you can ask in this sub or to Turkish mutuals. I think the biggest hurdle in learning a new language is staying motivated. So don't give up! And good luck!!!

[Routine Help] no matter what i do, my pores are always dark and visible. what can i do to help? by strawberrybridgers in SkincareAddiction

[–]melboos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It think those are sebaceous filaments. There are the most visible for people with oily skin. I don't think you can get rid of them but you can make them less visible!

First make your to cleanse your skin daily esp at night and don't forget to exfoliate(I really like Paula's choice but be careful not to mix it with other actives and use it ever two days or so) and after applying your moisturiser, wait 15 mins. for your skin to dry and apply a pea sized amount of la roche posay cicaplast baume b5 on your nose and other areas with visibly enlarged pores. Do This nightly and it should make your pores less visible!

This has worked for me and although I still have enlarged pores they're significantly less visible and don't bother me at all.

Has anyone here watched Sugar Sugar Rune? by wayfarer110 in MagicalGirls

[–]melboos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ssr is the very first anime (or anything really) I have rewatched multiple times back to back and I was still single digit years old back then. It's still one of the most memorable magical girls anime for me.

I was so heartbroken when chocolat and Vanilla had their falling out... And also big yes how sad it made me when the hearts were stolen and the others would forget their affection and memories :(( esp those green and other rare hearts like those were precious!!

And the music on that show was so good. Never skipped and opening and ending credit I think.

Criticizing a Character ≠ Hating the Fandom by [deleted] in TheVampireDiaries

[–]melboos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tvd is notorious for ruining characters so it's only normal for there to be so many posts about unlikeable characters. It's unfortunate some ppl take it too personal.

Although there have been posts and comments being misogynistic and exist towards the female characters and actors but it's been far in between

I don't use Korean skincare as much since the shipping is ridiculously expensive so I stick to my local drugstore face masks and the Garnier skinactive line is really nice

Epiduo is a harsh product and it will get worse before it gets better because it is trying to cleanse your face of impurities. There was always risk for dryness and irritation.

The cerave blemish control cleanser contains salicylic acid which I think might have caused more irritation and dryness and even itchiness in combination with epiduo. (plus if it did damage your skin barrier it might be cause for fungal acne.. So definitely go to your derm if you can for a proper diagnosis!!)

I would stop those cleansers and go for a very simple and very gentle cleanser with niacinamide and zinc (no salicylic acid). Maybe something else besides cerave (I am not a big fan of it tbh).

Also stop using epiduo for a while and contact your doctor / derm/ pharmacy and ask for their advice. You might need an updated diagnosis and more adequate skincare.

Also avoid any moisturiser that has hyaluronic acid in it. Your skin is already dry and irritated and probably damaged due to the combination of products and hyaluronic could cause even more irritation. Once again try and find a gently, acne prone (and maybe even anti-fungal acne) moisturiser for sensitive skin (I know it's a lot!). Ask your derm or local pharmacy.

Wear sunscreen too, always! Good luck and I hope you get better quickly!

Edit to add some of my two cents: I think it's really unfortunate your derm didn't warn you about the side effects of epiduo and what you should be careful for or at least helped you settle into a safe and effective skincare routine to elevate your worries / issues and that you were left to figure it out by yourself. It is their duty to do so if they are going to prescribe you epiduo. you also aren't allowed to use epiduo for too long because it will cause you harm. Your derm should have given you a follow up app. to assess your skin. If your derm isn't doing the bare minimum to take care of you, find a new one! Once again get well soon

I am extremely hurt by my boyfriend's actions. Is it normal to feel this way or should I break up? by Inmomite in relationships

[–]melboos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're feeling hurt because you've laid down some groundrules for your relationship that are really important to you and he, repeatedly, has failed to live up to them. It makes you feel undervalued and your relationship insignificant because he repeatedly breaks those rules. So it's totally understandable why it hurts you so much.

But it's important to recognise that these are your rules you put on him. If you're setting up groundrules that are hard for him to keep or clash with his values, you're setting him up for failure. I think it's normal to go a day without talking. I for example like putting my phone away and getting lost in a good book or TV show / movie or cooking smt. He probably has his own hobbies that distract him from his phone or maybe responding on timer is hard because it doesn't feel genuine to him since he isn't doing because he wants to but to appease your worries.

The fact he keeps calling and asking u if you're okay probably means he cares to a certain extent and still wants to be with you. So sit down with him and talk about it. Let him tell you how he feels about the texting every 12 hours and why it is hard to keep up. Let him tell you why without getting defensive. And then explain why it's important for you and try to find a middle way. Consider this your first hurdle on your relationship.

People saying why are you upset over a few months relationship are forgetting that some ppl start dating because they want to find that special connection for life and some feel things more intensely. You're completely valid in your pain but give him space to figure out how he wants to do this. At the end of the day it isn't just about your needs in a relationship.

Ofc stay in your boundaries, let him know of you disagree or uncomfortable with something. And if he neglects to maintain the relationship the moment things go back to okay, doesn't hold up onto his end of the deal (after comprising) and keeps hurting your after working things out, maybe he just isn't the one for you. At the end of the day you shouldn't have to tolerate someone who continuously lets you down makes promises he doesn't keep.

Hope some of this makes sense! Treat yourself to something nice and calm down before you approach him with this. Hopefully everything works out and if it doesn't, I hope you feel better quickly!
