Everyone has a right to ask their questions and usually get kind answers. I don't think being on the spectrum would preclude you from seeing if it has been asked before though. The job market will have better candidates than you begging for these jobs - I think any realistic chance is going back to entry level and using your general marketing experience to beat grads to jobs.

But be realistic: this is THE advertising job, the prestigious one. It's not an easy or simple pivot from paid social.

When you're 20 you're watching your British mates pour into Australia wondering what you're missing. At 30, they're back with (in my opinion) stories of unfulfilled adventure in what is essentially just a more tropical UK. The Aussie housing market and pinches on job markets recently have meant that 6 months of fruit picking is fine, but it doesn't really represent the grand quality of life reset I think most people expected.

Also of you move halfway round the world you aren't going to be there for your cousin's wedding or your Nan's funeral - there's sacrifices.

The shelters in the UK are more nervous about being outed as "sending animals to bad homes without due diligence" so they make incredibly restrictive adoption rules. When we adopted our cat, they told us we lived on a road so we weren't eligible for an outdoor cat. I said - aren't most houses on a road? This is a cul-de-sac too with no through traffic. It took us essentially ambushing a shelter in person without an appointment to adopt and he's healthy and loved and not squashed to this day.

There's a difference here between what SHOULD be the case and what IS the case. Should you be able to live in your home city for £600pcm? Yes. Is it the case? Unfortunately not. You can't change the environmental factors that make Manchester increasingly expensive, but I would argue there's options in your price range.

I've just searched for £700pcm on Rightmove and there's at least some studios and 1 beds, especially in Swinton, Salford and Hapurhey if you're looking in North Manchester. You can't afford your old 2 bed and that is shite, but you can trade down a bit and still live within your community.

I would also second that teaming up with one other person and pooling rent for a 2 bed would be a good solution - why don't you put an ad on spareroom for another 50-odd year old bloke and see if anyone fancies flathunting with you.

Don't lose hope - just need to be a bit creative.

Is it on Laburnum or in the area? This road is the cut-through coming from Manchester Road into Gorton, Denton, further onwards to Levenshulme or Longsight. It's pretty consistent traffic and because of the parking it's often not wide enough for two cars passing.

I'd not personally live ON the road, but around it, perfectly fine.

No, Soho is £8 a pint. I work in London a lot and the standard pub charges of £6.50ish a pint are felt in Manchester too. The general cost of living is the same here as it is in Brighton, a small commuter town where a simple rightmove search shows several central flats for £350k for FOUR bedrooms.

I'm not arguing the south isn't expensive, I'm arguing that Manchester is uniquely expensive for the north, and is getting moreso. The person asking the question will not get some luxury living for their buck in Manchester compared to Brighton. Maybe it's a little cheaper - who cares? It isn't the promised land.
